Should titles be allowed to be fought for at catchweights?

It doesn't exclude anyone who doesn't want to be excluded.

That's the point that you seem to be intentionally missing.

If a fighter decides to weigh in at 145 for a WW bout, the sanctioning body doesn't care. Deciding to weigh in at 145lbs doesn't 'contradict' their rules. Making an agreement to weigh in at 145lbs doesn't contradict their rules.

In fact you already know it doesn't contradict their rules because up the page you proposed a new rule. Why would they need a new rule if it was already covered?

Huh? I'm not arguing whether the rules currently allow it - of course they do. I'm proposing that they change the rules to prevent fighters from circumventing the established weight classes (I should have specified "weight classes" rather than "rules"). Currently, it's not against the rules to circumvent the weight classes with private contracts. I'm saying it should be. Even if you don't agree, I don't know why you're not at least grasping that point.

You said that the practice clearly contradicts the rules of the sanctioning body, as I quoted. Hence the fact that I replied to that point, which you've now apparantly withdrawn.

Silly. You clearly knew what I meant, because I've been saying it throughout this thread, as you yourself obsesrved.

(and this was in direct response to YOU)

Odd how you managed to miss all the other times I said it wasn't against the rules but it should be but somehow managed to catch the one typo.

Hm. Well, glad to clarify anyway. :)

Your arguments are ill thought out and inconsistent. Hence the fact that you're a bit all over the place in this thread. I take them as they come up. The 'one typo' was repeated in at least three seperate posts, so I replied to it.

    No

Mayweather came in at 150 for Oscar's 154 lbs belt, He didn't make Oscar come in at 150 and that is the way it should be. titles should be fought at the weight limit, not having catchweights. There are already enough catchweights in boxing they are called Junior and Super, we don't need any more.

Title fights should be allowed if the challenger came from lower division but the champion should be able to defend his title against any ranked challenger who could come at a weight not exceeding the upper limit his division. Having said that, Pac should be stripped of the WW title if he could not defend it against Clottey at 147. This is coming from a huge Pac fan who is even proud to be called *******.
