Ali's worst performances are not when he moved a lot but when he held too much. He had some ugly ones.

He was not a runner and his movement was artistic; great to watch.

    Bring on the league

    Have a points system

    4 points for a KO
3 points for a UD or a SD win
    2 point for a draw
    1 point for a loss

The rankings would suddenly start moving up and down with various fighters gaining and losing positions

Watch how they all start going for KOs and we all get value for money again

Yep especially for guys like Scull who had no intention of winning and just came to survive.

Bivol moved against Beterbiev and neither of his fights against him were remotely boring. The problem is not movers it's boxers who graduated at fear based schools of slickness as opposed to skill based ones and fighters who graduated at the American modern school of slickness have no place fighting on PPV cards, let alone cards which are supposed to be historical sporting events.

Truth be told they have no place being featured on televised cards.

Why would anyone want to watch Haney fight in the first place, let alone pay to do so?

And why would any promoter want or organizer of an event actually pay him to fight or headline on their card or inexplicably pay him a fortune to do so?

Bivol had good reason to move against Beterbiev, because he was facing a savage punching wrecking machine with a KO 100% who can punch holes in castle walls and is as physically strong as a bear. That being said, Bivol didn't run like a thief in the night and stink the joint out throwing 2 shots a round and grabbing ahold like a lonely octopus everytime Beterbiev got within sneezing distance of him. He boxed and moved but he threw and landed lots of punches and both fights were entertaining, enjoyable to watch and extremely high skill affairs.

One of Usyk's styles in his repertoire is the slick boxer-mover style bit he has never stunk the joint out. He throws lots of punches and is not mortally afraid of getting clipped by the win of a punch even when facing giants, savage punchers, and savage punching giants.

Haney and these 'slicksters' who graduated at fear based schools of slickness run, hold, and stink the joint out like they're six year old schoolgirls being pursued around the ring by Beterbiev even when they're facing leprechauns, featherfists, washed averaged punchers. They have no shame, no honour and no testicles

I get there are boring guys who fight scared and I don't like them at all but at least Haney and Shakur are there to win. Scull just fought like a total coward who just wanted to make it the distance without getting hurt.

Ali also showed up fight though. He didn’t do what Ajagba did, just jab and run. He’d circle, move in and out, but he was actually trying to engage and damage his opponents.

scull didn’t show up to win. He showed up for a payday, assuming he’d lose, with the goal of just going the distance. He absolutely stunk it out. Ugh.

Thankfully they put up barricades and screens to prevent local boxing fans from watching

This sounds more reasonable than it is. Hes looking to control the sport. Freezing guys out based on their style leads to fighters feeling forced to fight a certain way and thats not a sport. No one should go into a fight trying to earn a "fight of the night" or "knockout of the night" bonus. They should be trying to win. Changing the rules would be more honest.

I think it's Canelo's fault for picking such an opponent.

But that is professional boxing. People are paying to be entertain more so than watch you box. Boxing is a blood sport and the paying fans wants blood. Sure you can fight anyway you want but you will never become a star or a million dollar fighter. Scull will be hard press to ever make it on Saudi card. That is Turki right as a promotor and Scull right to fight the way he wants. Cause no one is tuning in to watch another of his fights even free.

People who live pay check to pay check shouldn't tell or even suggest what a billionaire should do with his money.

And to the question....That is dumb. Turki is trying to fund boxers and match the top fighters with the top fighters. It's dumb to suggest that he should only invest in fighters who are willing to just sit in front of their opponent and participate in "Rock em Sock em" activity. Defense is as much apart of the sweet science as throwing heavy combinations. If you are only entertained by people simply punching until someone goes to sleep, then sit outside of a bar of your choice on a Saturday night and wait for the drunkest of the drunks to come out to the parking lot.

Personally, I enjoy a great counter puncher, which is exactly what Shakur is. Highly skilled in that area. Put him in the ring with someone more focused on offensive output and you'll see poetry in that ring. Let's stop acting like every fight needs to look similar to Round 1 of Hearns/Hagler.

P.S. What Haney did this past weekend wasn't counter punching nor defense. It simply was a man who mentally isn't ready to compete at the highest level. Something isn't right with him right now. He wasn't confident in himself like he was pre-Ryan Garcia and it showed. His back was on the ropes 90% of the night.
