It was clear that on his third come back in the boxing ring against Botha he had totally lost his speed, his movement & foot speed. It was shocking to see him being completely outboxed and the only thing left was his punching power but even then it was very predictable where he would aim for that one big strike to the head, just watch him against golata where in one round all he is doing is aiming for the head and nothing else there were no body shots, combinations and it was no surprise he took very easy fights during this phase. I understand he needed the money which is why he continued boxing ideally I would have liked him to retire at this point. It also didn't help that he had a very unprofessional approach to training. Should he have molded himself into Foreman when he came back into boxing ie more patient, conserving his energy for the right moments. Tysons short height definately worked against him from 1999 onwards.
I suppose but it's very hard with his dimensions. Foreman is 6'4 with an 82" reach. Tyson is 5'10 with a 71" reach. It requires quite a bit of energy to get past your opponent's incoming fire in order to get in punching range against these taller, rangier fighters.
Tyson didn't even want to return and he made it clear but he was in debt and had to fight to make money. Any fighter that's fighting primarily for money isn't going to bother to change anything because his heart is not in it.
He wasn't training, still didn't have the right people around him, was partying and was fighting for money - his head was scrambled..... although imagine he started pulling off the shoulder roll
