We all know Douglas knocking out a prime Tyson was the shock of the century, Douglas was adamant he'd knock Tyson out quicker in a rematch. I know Douglas lost to Holyfield but why didn't Tyson push to avange his only defeat at the time?

Tyson knew he couldn't beat Douglas in a rematch. He knew Douglas had his number.

Douglas didn't beat the "prime" Tyson.

Yes as i thought, you'd think he would have done his upmost to show the world it was a fluke.

After beating Tyson Douglas didnt fight for 8 months lost to Evander and retired for 6 years ,where was the opportunity or incentive?

And how do you know Douglas would have stayed retired had Tyson made a serious effort to get the rematch? I'm sure he would have slapped Tyson silly again for the $$$$$$$$......

I don't think the 300lbs plus version of Douglas that he had become would have slapped anyone silly ,unless he sat on them!
Tyson lost to Douglas in Feb`1990
Douglas lost to Holyfield in Oct1990
    Douglas then retired
    Tyson was arrested inJuly1991
We therefore have a window of 9 months,in which this fight could conceivably have happened.
Douglas was not interested in fighting after the Holyfield defeat ,he ballooned up like a whale.
If you think this is enough to use as a stick to beat your regular whipping boy Tyson then fill your boots.
I doubt it will elicit the kind of response you would wish.

Tyson showed in Tokyo how easy it was to get into shape after walking around at 300lb a fortnight before the fight, Douglas could do it easily.

9 months is plenty enough time to avenge your only defeat. Tyson clearly didn't want anymore of Buster Douglas, who can blame him?

Tyson never avenged a single defeat in his career, fact! I'm sorry but that affects his legacy.

NO. Tyson v. Holyfield was the fight everyone wanted and was the one Tyson was pursuing before going to prison. Evander had wiped the floor with Buster and had the title. He was the logical target.
