Should Tyson have re-matched Douglas before prison?

Don't think Tyson would have achieved much by beating Douglas in a re-match, his detractors would still have used his first loss against him. Deep down he knew it was a fluke and that he didn't have to go out of his way to get the re-match. It was Douglas who refused the rematch and stayed retired from boxing.

 

Tyson would have evened the score in spectacular fashion in the re-match. Douglas would not have been able to handle Tyson quick sharp punches backed by good fitness.

 

I think Tokyo Douglas would have given anyone trouble.

 

Ray picked Hagler after Marvin was rusty and looking old with Mugabi. And Marvin did look slow and not sharp in that fight. Then another year went by and Marvin looked even more rusty. Then Ray did the same with Lalonde. 2 titles in one fight, when neither were rated at 168 and Donny was not the best light heavyweight then and was not at 175.. That was a joke fight... Ray just wanted to match Hearns, yet Hearns still won 5 titles first even if 3 days before Ray. and making Hearns go down to 162 in a 168 pound fight.

 

Hagler was rusty but Leonard coming out of a 3 years retirement was not? Lalonde was in his prime when he fought Leonard, Leonard was not. Ray was an exwelter going up in weight.
I get you don't like Leonard,[one could hardly miss it],but your argument is fundamentally flawed because it is illogical and not supported by facts.

 

Lalonde was not a great fighter. He lost easily to an old Virgil. when both were old sure, but then Czyz outclassed him also. How was Lalonde a great win.. and he weakened him to win 2 titles on one night.. I don't think Ray deserved one of those titles.. the champ was weakened and neither guys was rated at 168.. It was a joke on boxing. Hagler was tired and worn out after two tough fights against Hearns and Mugabi, both hit him clean and Hearns rocked him.. And with Mugabi Hagler was rusty and still came out winning, but he was tired and inactive. Then he waits another year. Ray was having real fights in the gym.. Mainly Quincy Taylor. No I love Ray, you have me wrong. I think he has to be one of the best ever. top 5... I do not like what he did post Hagler. He thought he was above boxing like Floyd always thought he was, so Ray did that 2 titles in one night, and got Hearns to weigh in 162 for a 168 pound fight. That Lalonde fight for 2 titles was the joke of Ray's career, and it was fitting that Hearns won his title against Hill in 1991 and Hill was young and undefeated and had title defenses totallying 10. And Hearns had the experience to beat a young fight months after Ray was easily beaten by Norris. Hearns fighting the whole decade of the 1980s gained experience which helped him when his skills diminished. Ray had experience, but nothing to match Hearns. Who was active the whole decade. But you are wrong. I love Ray before Hagler. 1-5 best ATG. I am just saying what I feel.
