I think Vitali should offer 50/50 spilt to Haye, then Povetkin. If both fighters predictably balk, I would not mind seeing Byrd or Lewis getting an offer...I know both are retired, but why not give them one more chance to decline?

OH I see what you're doing.

You're trying to cover and draw sympathy for your boy Vitali.

    Not so fast

    Yes, he should retire.

He doesn't "owe" Haye a fight. Haye has still not earned another title shot.

It's too bad that Vitali didn't have better opponents to face when he was at his best, but he'll have to accept that as Larry Holmes did. (He really should have fought Wlad, but that's a different topic.)

We all know Vitali has slowed down considerably, so why should he face a fast, loud-mouthed **** like Haye? If Vitali should win (likely) it would NOT help his legacy, it would just prove again how crappy Haye actually is.

If Haye should win (possible, given Vitali's age) it would be a sad, final moment in an otherwise fine career.

**** Haye. (Which is what this topic is really about, isn't it?)
Vitali should retire with dignity & go help his country.

If his heart is not in it, then retire. He put up a great fight against Lennox and provided the last exctiting, meaningful heavyweight title fight against Arreola.

I respect Vitali and would rather see him pursue his other interests than fight no hopers.

I think Vitali engages Haye and makes it a fight. Wlad is a guaranteed disappointment, but big brother actually likes to fight.

    Great avatar, btw.

we don't know how the fight would turn out if it were to be made. just because it wasn't a good showing against wlad ( wlad looked poor himself) doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good showing against vitali. two different fighters.

put it this way, every fighter that has let their hands go david has beaten. most getting knocked out. this has the makings for a much better fight. it needs to happen.

Vitali looked poor against Kevin "safety pin" Johnson. guess why?
Wlad looked poor against David "talk smack, turn *****" Haye. guess why?

haye should get the fight after what he's just done to chisora.

you say he hasn't earned it? haye has done more in his career to earn a fight with vitali than any other opponent. lennox excluded.

    that's the truth.

easy. wlad was too scared to let his hands go on a former cruiserweight. a fighter he said he would knock out. he never came close to doing it. not even for a second.

He said he would retire because there are no good options out there, but now with Haye getting some attention back, he has a great option and knowing Vitali, he will pursuit it.

I've heard rumors of Povetkin's team showing interest in Haye. That should be a great fight for Haye before fighting Vitali(who's also fighting Charr).

david only wants vitali. don't think he'd go for povetkin. i'd like to see it, but vitali's the only fight he's interested in.

Haye will go for anything that pays him big, that`s his priority.

Vitali has been saying lately that he wants to continue with his boxing career, but will have to see how it will work after october. It is looking like he will get elected.

IMO, Vitali will still fight one or two fights more if he does well in september. Haye, Seth Mitchel and Fury being the likely targets.
