Thing is mate if I went into my job and said to my boss I will only work if I get paid 4 times what someone with my skill and experience should get paid, then I only see one outcome. I don't see him getting 8 other people to contribute to my job so I can get that money. It shouldn't be that much different in boxing. It's a cracking fight but so are plenty that shouldn't be on PPV.
Isn't the Matchroom PPV model based on their main event fighter getting a large % of the revenue after everyone else has been paid a fixed fee? In any case I'm a big believer in PPV being all about the main event. If you want to see the main event you cough up your money, if you don't then fine. It doesn't sit well with me having a STACKED undercard to part boxing fans with their cash. I just don't think it's what the sport should be about.
As I understand it the main event owns the show and yes they what they earn will effect the rest of the card. Of course I don't think its as simple as x fighter saying he wants x money and screw the rest of the card as sky would still expect matchroom to produce a show.
It's a simple concept - if you think it's worth the money then buy it otherwise don't pay it. I don't get why everyone moans about PPV. Everyone says it's not a big draw fight however they have sold 12k seats for this event already and I can guarantee the viewing figures will be big . Personally I am more than happy to pay the money - I love boxing and to pay £19.95 is far cheaper than a night out.
If we get 4-5 PPVs at year it's costing £100 for the year for all the big cards on Sky which I don't really mind. We normally get 3-4 lads together, take it in turns to order it then have a load of beers and some food....It's cheaper per person than going into town and having 5-6 pints each. Eddie is attracting the casuals and it's becoming more a social event with lots of groups using it as a reason to get a pass from the Mrs to have a session with their mates.
If Bellew v Clev/Haye x2 is PPV then anything goes innit? Tbf to Whyte and Parker they have put the work in ,but the PPV bar has been set so low its just annoying genuine boxing fans.. The Hearn/Bellew friendship has set a model that it has now become the norm that Eddie can make anyone he likes PPV and it seems its our job to help their pension.....Hearn said Whyte would not have taken the fight for 300-400k!!!! WTF ???..... So remember that all you lads on a normal/poor wage ,debts, kids etc...when you click to buy its because 400 grand was not enough for Whyte to fight....smh
12k general sale. They sold thousands before with fight pass and O2 presale. Only 1500 left I concur the moaning gets out of control when nobody is forced to buy PPV. Just dont buy it if you feel its not worth the money. I think what generally happens is people do end up buying ppv they are so against
Now this i can understand...Its the price of a small round of drinks etc,why not.. But if Whyte cant fight for 400k i dont see why boxing fans should should pay £20 on top of Sky.... If you dont already have Sky then ok ,£20 done deal..
Ive no problem paying for this. It will be a terrific dust up and both fighters deserve a pay day for having big balls and a fight anyone anywhere attitude.
No-one complained about Joshua-Parker being PPV because it makes sense. Whyte-Parker does not, people are not stupid. Sky Sports Subscribers are essentially having to pay £100 on top of a Sports Subscription for Boxing. Which fights have actually been worth it and were genuinely entertaining? Brook-Spence in May 2017 was the last one. I love Boxing and dangling this PPV in front of me is like dangling cake in front of a fat man.
Echo the sentiments of everyone here Why should we fund an extravagant lifestyle for Dillian just because he's propped up some of AJs PPV cards. That's Eddie's problem for putting AJ on when he wasn't a PPV star. Eddie's problem is Sky want PPVs. Eddie probably doesn't want them all the time but has to put them on. He also wants fighters who want big paydays.
Hence if people are not stupid they won't pay but I'm sure this fight will do just fine on ppv. Subscribers don't have to pay anything extra as this is optional. Sky movies subscribers can buy box office movies if they want or they can not. The choice is yours. This fight sounds like one everyone wants to see. That's a box office fight is it not?
If 400k aint enough for a non title fight for a non household name i dunno what is....Plus the winner will go on to fight AJ AGAIN! and that will be PPV....**** it ive made my mind up its a NO vote from me Ortiz got 500k doll hairs to fight Wilder for the title...
There you have it, lads. Have a fight anyone attitude (anyone that isn't called Ortiz) and you deserve to be paid way over the odds at the expense of the British boxing fan.
