I have been avoiding arguing solely from those rankings the last few years tbh, as they don't behave neutrally. One has a mainly American readership, the other a mainly American voting block. e.g. they still both have Ortiz @5 smh Usually I will look to PBO for an unbiased view. But as their website has been down this last month the IBO will also do. Latest IBO rankings: Usyk @4 Joyce @7 Hunter @8 Ortiz @ 11 (Adjusted down based on Fury and Joshua being @1 and @2) btw regarding Hunter being ahead against Povetkin. I assume most didn't score the Knockdown against Hunter, because the referee didn't acknowledge Hunter was held up by the ropes. It was a fair draw. Though I will agree with you about Fury and Joshua being clear at the top and the rest are just a chasing pack atm.
Yeah, there are different criteria. I had used as main criteria boxer's fights with current champions and also Klit, so If you think that I'm wrong, this most likely is because flowchart I had used for ranking. I had meaning more about current situation than boxer's all resume in depth. Because If I had took in account all resume as heritage and legacy, I had ranked Povetkin relatively highly. Since gentleman is old for boxing fights and looks most likely will retire, I didn't had even mentioned him in my post.
I also take in account where their marquee fights had happened. Fury unusually for U.K boxers had these fights aboard, in Germany and U.S. This makes me more trust that Fury is willing to travel aboard to fight, like Usyk and some other highly ranked boxers. I'm a bit biased because me likes boxers who had fights on foreign soil and/ or took opponents in their pirme. Hunter for example likes me because he took fight vs real prime Usyk's version.
I'd rank Whyte 3rd behind Fury & Joshua. Wilder hasn't beaten anyone and hasn't fought in over a year since he was crushed and came up with every stupid conspiracy theory he could to excuse his humiliating defeat. He probably won't fight again like fellow 1 trick pony who only had a punch and speed Naz. The loss is too much for his inflated ego to bear, and going back to the drawing board isn't a option for him. As it's not like he has any skills to sharpen up, and comeback with a better plan. His former trainer who he threw under the bus for the loss said it best, Wilder only has his power.
When fighters don't fight, they should be dropped in the rankings. Wilder should drop down to around 5
If he will beat Whyte and Ruiz he might be considered as No3 below fury and a.j. The biggest problem that they does not beat. We are waiting since autumn listening these talks about possible A.J vs Fury etc. Soon will be summer, then autumn and winter.
