At least chose a decent name for this division. Imagine Michael Buffer introducing the “Bridgerweight Champion”. It sounds and looks ridiculous.

Whatever Wilder does, he needs to get on with it. He's been very inactive.

What many say about the Bridgerweight division now is what many said about the Cruiserweight division when it started.

They can't call it Light HW, that was taken long ago. Super CW makes more sense. Even by the 60s and certainly by the 70s you could see that sub 200# HWs were being outsized. Top examples were the Patterson's & Quarry's of that era. Liston, a small HW today, utterly destroyed Patterson 2X. The pool of talented men over 200#, over 225#, and over 250# is much greater than it was 50 years ago.

Some renaming might be needed. Current Lt HW to Lt CW, keep CW as is, Bridger to Lt HW. But people won't like that either. Most people resist change even if there's some sense to it. Calling a fighter from 169-175# a light HW in recent/current era of bigger people and fat slobs sounds off.

In the developed or 1st world, there are tons (pun intended) of average height, even short women at or above light HW. Yeah, nearly all fatties and not athletes. Nevertheless, generations ago people were lighter, smaller overall.

    Not like that!

Michael Buffer: "In this corner we have the B-RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-idgerweight Champion..."
