Wladimir is looking to unify, dumping the belts adds more complications to an already complicated division.
There's no other big names in the division that can give him extra ordinary money above what he is receiving now . . . so he should not dump the belts and should fight mandatories to keep busy and active.
He should dump the IBF, IBO, and the WBO belts. he has the only belt that truly matters The Ring Belt, and that's all he needs.
The Ring belt is cool, but a lot of people are questioning the fact that Wlad is true linear champ now and that he should be given that belt. And shouldn't dump anything, he earned that belts, and he should pass them only in the ring in case of his loss. He has now just fight mandatories and others trashtarkers, young hopes, old-school boxers and other "saviors" cleaning the division and picking up the belt(s) of his bro after Vit's retirement.
I've been arguing this point for ages. People give the ABC titles more credit than they are worth. IMO, Wlad should just dump 'em and fight the fights out there worth more to the fans. But, you know full well he loves the shiny waist decorations way too much to even contemplate giving them up.
Absolutely not. What? For the priviledge of beating the **** out of some undeserving British dweeb? :rofl
i think he should dump them, he needs legacy fights and money fights, hes already a acccomplished champ....madatories are **** now...
As you think I'm being partisan I'll prove that I'm not- I would sooner see someone like Arreola in with Wlad than Povetkin, Chambers, Dimitrenko. It makes no difference if it's Haye or not with me.
Pray tell how Arreola & Haye have earned shots but Povetkin & Dimitrenko haven't? Chambers would have more of a case than either Arreola or Haye if he can beat Dimitrenko IMO. I think you just don't like those particular Heavys since they are obviously more deserving.
I would still like to see Wladimir kick the **** outta Haye or Arreola, don't get me wrong. But Wlad shouldn't drop the belts he won just to appease the haters. That's ridiculous.
Nah, it doesn't make sense to ditch the belts. His mandatories coming up are going to be top 10 fighters anyways...the only guys worth fighting for him in the next couple years that don't have some kind of mandatory claim are Valuev and Haye. Dimitrenko-Chambers winner will be a mandatory. Povetkin's the IBF mandatory. Arreola's fight vs Arreola was an IBF elimninator, as well. If Wlad immediately lands a Valuev fight, they could have an eliminator between Povetkin and Arreola in the meantime, and allow Haye to get a quality win or two at the weight during that time period. That's the rosy scenario, but unfortunately it's not going to go down like that. They're going to milk Valuev until Boytsov gets the chance to take the giant out. Povetkin and Arreola won't fight even though it makes sense for the division on a number of levels. Here's what I think Wlad's upcoming fight schedule will probably look like: Fight 1: Povetkin, Fall 2009 Fight 2: Chambers-Dimitrenko winner, Spring 2010 Fight 3: Haye (if he hasn't lost), Fall 2010. If Haye's been defeated, it'll be Arreola in this slot. Shoud Valuev's team decide to cash him out, he'd take priority over any of these fights because Wlad wants that title, bad.
