Should Wlad have avenged more of his losses? Or would it have mattered?

Wlad not triggering his rematch clause and fighting a bum instead is pretty ironclad proof that he ducked the fight.

Dino being unable to understand English and inventing his own facts is ironclad proof that he's ducking reality

I remember reading that Joe Louis said that he didn't feel like he was THE CHAMPION until he avenged his pre-title loss to Max Schmeling. He did it in big style (Schmeling actually suffered a fractured vertebrae in the rematch!) and went on to a legendary title reign. If Wladimir cared about his legacy and silencing the doubters, he should've made every effort to avenge the pre-title loss to Ross Purity as well as the loss to Corrie Sanders R.I.P. You can't pick and choose which guys you will rematch if you care about your legacy. Purrity must've felt like the uncrowned champ at times. Ridiculous.

He didn't pick and choose. Purity lost to Vitali and a slew of others so a rematch didn't make sense. Sanders lost to Vitali and was blasted out in a round, so again a rematch didn't make sense. Brewster? He avenged that.

He chose to have Vitali avenge the Sanders loss for him. Thats picking and choosing.

The Brewster rematch is meaningless as it happened years later when Brewster was washed up and half blind.

no, 10 losses would make his resume beyond redemption, even fans would realise he wasnt much h2h. He did the right thing to run in gibbering fear from mediocrity several times, so as to maintain the lie that he really good, a bit better. His intelligent management was way better than his h2h ability.

but these losses of form of these victors just make it all the more reason he should have proved he was better, instead of remaining lesser than middlers as he does today.

Couldn’t care less about the Fury rematch. That fight was as boring as hell but he should have taken the rematch with Joshua instead of retiring again after thinking about it for 6 months. He was only a few punches away from winning the first fight and he would still had a good chance of avenging his loss in a second fight.

Fury and Joshua against prime Wlad...ha-ha.

Wilder is another matter entirely imo.

To me Wlad's accomplishments so far outweigh his past-prime losses.

I think Fury beats prime Wlad.I see Wilder as an easier fight for Wlad.

    No.

He avenged the KO loss to Brewster. He let Vitali avenge the losses to Purrity and Sanders.

    No.

Purrity and Fury ducked scheduled rematches. He was 41 against Joshua. Fighting Sanders right away after a 2 round blowout loss wouldve been a stupid move, by the time he was ready Sanders was no longer in the HW picture.

George, he didn't pick and choose? You do know that Vitali and Wlad had the same promoter? I.E. I won't rematch you now but try on my big brother and let him soften you up a bit. That's some real chicken**** maneuver. BTW, Max Schmeling didn't exactly light the world on fire after he beat Louis, and yet Louis' #1 priority after winning the title was to avenge that loss. Different times, different priorities, different men. Joe Louis didn't have a big bro to avenge his losses. Kind of a weird time in heavyweight boxing when you look back on it. If I can't beat you maybe my brother can... Glad that garbage is over with.

Oh please, Wlad was much better and focused vs Joshua. If he had Furty in the re-match he would fight far more aggressively and would be be sharper.

Fury caught a older Wlad who didn't take him as seriously as he should have and as we have seen Fury's not getting in that type of shape again.
