Should Wlad just retire and forget the Fury rematch?

And he can improve upon his first performance with the right mindset

He still maintains his physical attributes and knock out power. He now sees its a matter of setting his mind to be more risk taking

He has such devastating power it won't take many to do the job and put Fury out. Look at how Fury was dropped to the mat with Cunningham (?)

Keep in mind fury is tall moves well, but is not that good of a boxer, and it's not very powerful of a puncher at all

Would be a huge step up for either even fighting a 40 year old Wlad if that tells you anything. Joshua is clearly being coddled and protected by Hearn. His opposition has been worse than Wilders. :rofl:patsch

Wlad has been pretty good with making necessary adjustments after taking an L. I expect him to regain the title

Maybe. I don't think there would be much harm in a rematch though.

    Loses? He's just old.
Wins? He's gotten old, but still great!

He shouldn't try to fight anyone else though. Because if he wins it means he's not old, and that Fury is just flat out better than him.

And I believe the match is still set for October. Fury tweeted only yesterday that he'd face Wlad in October.

I don't think he'll get banned. It would've happened a long time ago, and I've heard his B sample was negative.

He should retire after though. Unless he obliterates Fury I guess (which isn't happening).

He didn't lose to Peter. Yes he did better in the 2nd fight, but that was after Vitali beat him down.

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Fury doesn't hit hard, so the risk of life-altering injuries are slim.

I say go for it and if he loses again, pack it in.

I personally think this whole fight postponement was staged by Fury himself purpously. Fury knows what hes doing.

Try for the rematch. if he gets it go big for the ko. if Fury is banned reconsider. maybe either retire or go after another fight and think it over.

I'd totally disagree with that assessment. If Wlad was so great at adjusting to losses why does he have so many?

He gassed in his first loss to Puritty, but didn't learn a thing and did the same with Brewster 6 years later. That doesn't show a particularly fast learning curve.

He had the benefit of Steward to help him before to alter his style, to narrow his stance to make him more mobile, to learn to pace himself and to control the pace with clinching. Now that the format Steward gave him has been taken apart by Fury he only has himself to try and adjust. I doubt he even knows what he has to do differently to win.

Only way Wlad wins the rematch is if Fury self destructs which quite frankly could happen. His bad training habits, his volatile nature could very well see him fail to repeat what he did before but that is of course if we don't see Fury banned.

Yeah. The first thing a professional fighters thinks about after he loses is a rematch. 99.9% want a rematch. It's a burning desire deep down inside every boxer that you will never have the chance to understand, and I mean that with no disrespect.

Any boxer who loses and does not want a rematch I have to question their heart. Now there are some cases where they know that the end is near, they were brutally ko'd or unanimously decisioned, and maybe were advised to retire without getting a rematch. Many great champions lose that way. But Wlad lost a fight where he thinks that he should've put out more. He got outboxed.

Now you ask should Wlad retire. Put yourself in his shoes. Look in the mirror and imagine that you are a prize fighter and ask yourself...could you retire after losing a UD, or would you want another crack at the champ?
