all i remember was wlad saying he wasn't ready for lewis. so that's not going to work as an excuse either.
Watch the post fight interviews from the Mercer or McCline fights (just before he fought Sanders). He specifically called out to fight Lewis, Holy or Tyson.
Well he dodged holyfield for 10 years so its unrealisitic he will ever fight him. The fighter who can beat him he won't fight. And none of the upcomers from price, to wilder, to mitchell can beat him
Not top 10, but he will be considered a top world class boxer and an all time great, more along top 25. He is fighting in a weak division that is about to heat up, if he can stick around for another 5 years and maintain his skill level we can see how truly good he is.
Excessive holding by Wlad is done for two reasons. Fear of getting hit or lack of defensive skills. Take your pick.
**** Lennox is a beast. Toying with one of the hardest hitters in heavyweight history like it ain't no thing.
Spoken by someone who never seen an 60's Ali fight or even early 70's. Ali resort to holding non stop during his latter days because his amazing reflexes, speed, athleticism was shot to ****. In his prime and close to prime days he will hold when backed against the ropes, but he will almost immediately go back to dancing and throwing combinations/jabs as he circles around his opponents. Why? Because the refs broke it up.
Lewis was also holding way too much sometimes, but he was usually not his only activity. Compare Lewis-Tyson to any of Wlad's defences. Lewis was throwing and landing, so even if he was holding excessively it wasn't that bad to watch. And now you have Wlad's fight: always in safety first mode, throwing just enough to safely outland his opponent (no matter how badly outclassed)... no surprise holding looks like his main activity.
