this guys record is amazing, his record speaks for itself http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=10327&cat=boxer
I don't find it that impressive. He lost to the majority of the good fighters he fought. Sure they are all time greats but IMO he doesn't belong in the hall of fame. the Hall of fame should be for the greatest fighters only. Barry McGuigan shouldn't be in there for example
good points, i understand he may not have been great, still a good resume with wins over jake lamotta and drew with sugar ray robinson while beat many fighter with good resumes including tony demarco, holman williams.
d 1. I don't think he beat Tony DeMarco. He beat someone named Tony DeMicco. 2. He seems to me to be a tough, but fairly ordinary contender. He did beat LaMotta, Williams, and Zivic, and drew Robinson, but a whole lot of contenders did about as well without being outstanding. Tiger Jones defeated Robinson, Giardello, and Gavilan. Randy Sandy ended his career going 5-20-1, but during that run defeated Dick Tiger and Emile Griffith. 3. How is he better than contemporaries, such as George Abrams. Abrams defeated Teddy Yarosz, Lou Brouillard, and Billy Soose, drew with Charley Burley, and lost a very disputed decision to Robinson.
excellent points, i now know he had not been inducted yet... blame it on my a.d.d. for lack of seeing the difference of demarco and demicco atsch
