So I dislocated my shoulder during sparring, threw a wide right hook with bad form (strength comming mainly from arm and chest), a little history of my shoulder dislocations, I dislocated my right shoulder first time when I was very young around 7-8 years old playing around with my friend, at that time they thought i cramped my arm and it went back into place by it self as i was waiting for a doctor to check it (egyptian doctors, they even thought i was just acting sick -.-), so after that I assumed that what happened to me was what the doctor said cramp, then it dislocated once more later on and i sat there watching t.v waiting for that cramp to go away and it eventually went back into place (I was around 9 at the time).. Later on it dislocated again after i fell on my right shoulder (around 11 yo), had to get it operated on and they popped it back into place, then it dislocated when i was around 13 years old while i was playing wrestling sort of thing with a friend, at that time they decided I should get surgery, so I got some sort of capsule inserted through holes in the front and back of my shoulder which was meant to tighten the space, and not allow it to dislocate, I started bodybuilding after I got to liking the exercises from the physiotherapist, and have been training since then, started boxing a year ago, felt shoulder pop out and back in slightly once or twice during sparring. Then 2 weeks ago it popped out during sparring while i was throwing a right hook to the body, but it was horrible form due to exhaustion and the shoulder popped out, after going into the A&E a doctor tried to pop it back in for around 10 minutes pulling my arm twisting it around etc. while im feeling the worst pain ive ever felt, then afterwards they gave me half a dose of bing (not sure if that is what its called), and they popped it back in using a towel or w.e as I was too high on that gas and air and that drug they gave me to realize what was going on, the doctor said I need 6 weeks to be able to exercise again, its been 2 weeks now I got rid of my sling after the first week and now i can move the shoulder around as long as its slow with no weight pulling it down, I feel like its never gunna recover as I've had surgery and it popped back out!! So I thought for now I'll concentrate on footwork and my left arm, maybe practice southpaw a bit more too.. So I'm not sure what to do now.. Will I ever be able to compete in boxing? What should I do after the 6 weeks of rest that the doctor recommended? Also any recommendations on footwork exercises would be appreciated.. Thanks if you took the time to read this, I really love boxing and would appreciate any input I've never felt so good doing any exercise like I done with boxing, sparring etc. Too long didnt read version: Dislocated shoulder 4-5 times then had surgery capsule inserted to make shoulder socket tighter, dislocated it seven years later while doing a right hook in a spar 2 weeks ago, any advice on what to train until it heals, and similar experiences would be appreciated.
same happened to me and my shoulder was never the same again, i ended up going southpaw and everything has been fine since. as the jab is one of your main punches it will just keep doing damage. throwing the back hand from the southpaw position dosnt hurt at all compared to throwing lots of jabs with it. try it. it takes a while to get used to
Hm.I have a problem with my knee,i have taken LOADS of joint supplementation. "Animal flex" is the only thing that makes a difference in my case, and i have tried really a number of those things.Cod liver wont solve the problem,it will help but no so much. TS do u regularly go to the gym and do weight training?
Take some time off ? My friend plays football a lot and he has had multiple knee surgeries because he starts training too soon and his coach is a dumb ass that makes he work too hard. Now he i shaving another surgery and he is only 19. His career wont even start at this rate.
First get an MRI, find out what is actually damaged..... then surgery.....by the scope for a faster recovery up to the surgeon, depending on the damage he/she may want to open you up recovery/rehab is a *****, but with patience you'll get back
this...if the doc is just diagnosing you using points of pain in motion ect ect and nothing he saying is helping demand to be xwrayd and scanned and see a surgeon if needed (which will be if serious) and take it slow if you want some sort of use from it..keep going to road your going and ull be able to tick boxing off your list of things to do:thumbsup
