I thought Wlad clearly pushed Haye's head down anytime he got close, not sure what to think of it though...Lewis would tire his opponents out by keeping his weight on top of them as does Wlad...But, I don't remember Lewis fighting anyone as small as Haye...And Haye is off balance too, but, grabbing him behind the head and directing him to the canvas doesn't seem right...Is this simply the size/strength difference or was it a deliberate tactic? Or was Haye just pulling the flop thing? I was annoyed with the ref letting Manny Steward call the shots, and I'm not saying he was wrong, just a major mid-fight rule change...Make the boundaries and stick with them...I could care less what hbo had to say on this, they know who their fellow announcer trains...I thought Haye won the first round but, hbo clearly thought Wlad standing was enough to win every round, and he did win the fight, just not by as much as Germany and hbo would have us believe...
didnt look like he was getting pushed on that hard. Looked like he was pulling a little 'Hopkins' in there . Pretty ridiculous stuff.
He was directing Haye's head fairly effortlessly, the body always follows...Is it legal? It didn't seem to be until Manny told the ref it was...
it was a little hard to tell at times, though i think wlad clearly pushed at least a couple times AND haye clearly flopped a couple of times. It looked like that wlad was pushing a lot but many times not all that hard and i think you gotta consider that Haye was often initiating matters by jumping in then ducking down (while nearly in wlad's midsection) what else you gonna do at that point but push him down/away a little. no prob with both guys losing a point IMO
Good summation, but, idk about the 'make up' point deduction later, clearly was not a knock down...Calling the knock down is potentially 2 points btw...
Vlad would of pushed down on Hayes back and shoulders given the chance, its what he does, Steward tells him to do it and its not a stupid thing to do. Haye went to ground the second he felt Vlads arms touching him to stop that happening. So he wasnt pushed down he took the chance to do it away.
yeah, that wasn't the way to dock haye (calling the knockdown). but how would it be potentially two points?
That's why I brought up Lewis, it's an effective strategy...I'm thinking the size/strength difference was a big part of this though...
Gives Wlad the round 10-8 regardless of who was winning it as long as it was close...Haye would need to be winning it decisively for 9-10 or dominating it for 10-10...
i think it you'd have the same potential scenarios if a point was simply deducted (it goes on the round cited right?), if wlad wins close round it'd be 10-8, if haye otherwise wins round 9-9, i guess if haye 'dominates' (or gets a kd) he could win it 9-8.
The ref should have told Haye this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbZEkFLXh9Y"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbZEkFLXh9Y[/ame]
