Show some respect to Mijares

Problem was, many didnt give Vic a chance before they even fought, thats why you're getting these kind of reactions. Even laughed at people predicting a Vic win. This reactions are temporary and will soon die down. But it sure is fun making those who think Mijares as god eat crow for a day or two:hey

 

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Yes, and everytime he would start to do something, Vic would act like he was going to come forward and Mijares would....run. Or duck his head and hug Vic around the waist. Not step back and counter, not step inside and try to at least work inside...he would run out of range with his right hand at his side asking to be hit with a left. He fought like a moron. A moron with heart, but a moron-not a great fighter. Now **** off you ****ing bleeding heart puss.

 

A win tonight and Mijares would have been in the running for fighter of the year. A loss and he's and overrated bum. Hilarious.

I agree.

The problem with this is that he never fights like this. Of the fights I've seen of him, he never forgot his jab, never punched at the gloves, always fought his fight, very rarely fell for feints, etc but he did all of these things tonight.

Do you think all of this came from Darchinyan's style and the fact that Mijares was seriously hurt early on? I don't know what to make of it. Maybe it's just what Sweet Pea said, the problems with his mentality and arrogance, that he just couldn't adjust when things got out of his control.

 

It's not the loss, it's the manner of his loss. It was practically a non-effort. He looked like he was sleeping, the same way Dima Kirilov looked like he was sleep walking. It's like Vic's trash talk hypnotizes his opponents or something.

 

I show respect for anyone who gets in the ring, because I know how difficult it is. But that mutual respect boxers share ends at a point and you begin to analyze them based on what they've done, and Mijares didn't do anything worth respecting tonight other than getting up from his knockdowns and taking an obscene amount of punishment.

 

I know what you mean but I doubt that. I felt Mijares was clear enough. He lacked the respect he needed and was always hoping Vic would slow down, but when he didn't, it was too late. Vic throws punches so akwardly and Mijares simply couldn't see the angles as has been the case with so many of Vic's opponents.

 

mijares relies to much on his reflexes to slip punches. i gave vic little chance of winning. great win for vic. we put to much premium on a fighters skill set here, and it's been shown many times that better skillset does'nt always mean better fighter. this much has been shown.

 

Vic has an awkward style which most fighters have trouble deciphering. Mijares is a natural counter puncher, and you could tell he was waiting to counter Vic's shots. Thing is, Vic is so unpredictable he couldn't tell what shot Vic was about to throw, nor where it would be coming from.

Vic won fairly, squarely, and decisively. But it's not like Mijares came in to lay down. For a second, in the most middle rounds it seems like Mijares was getting into a groove. And at one point, he even stood toe to toe with Vic and traded punches. Mijares didn't go down with out a fight. Though in the the end Vic had his number. No shame in that.
