Yeah, it was a combination of a couple of things really. First was Vic's now seemingly unpredictable style. But even then I think Mijares would've still fought a very good and competitive fight. But the reason that didn't happen was because Vic also screwed Mijares mentally. Vic completely took away his confidence, concentration and swagger. And Mijares was never gonna bounce back from that.

That 1st round was the defining point of the match. Vic really fought a near perfect fight tonight and I respect him HUGELY for that. I also still respect Mijares. I'm not gonna be one of those guys who are being ruled by their emotions right now and say Mijares was a bum or overrated and stuff like that. He's not perfect just like the rest of us, and because of that he deserves a second chance. And I'm gonna give it to him.

    A. Totally agreed.

    B. I feel that Klitschko/Peter would have the same outcome 9 times out of 10.
I don't feel the same way about the Vic/Mijares fight. Mijares is a good fighter and he surely has a chance in a possible rematch imo.

    :good :deal

Crisitian Mijares has a lot of hardwork to do now, and I suppose we won't know how credible he is as a world class fighter until we see him bounce back at the very highest level. I wish him goodluck.

yep. thats the truth. both guys would'nt be where they are if they did'nt fight at a high level. darchinyan just came up with some fantastic stuff tonight.
i bet there would have been a couple of celebratory vic was destroyed threads.

Not by me or any of the legitimate educated Boxing fans on ESB.

I am sorry, but that is not true. I have seen quite a few people predicting Mijares would absolutely humiliate Vic, including some very respected posters. They would not have given Vic any respect if he had been schooled the way Mijares was, that's for sure/

Hold on. Predicting an easy victory for Mijares is not the same as disrespecting Vic Darchinynan. I predicted an easy win for Mijares based on what both have done in their respective careers, and comparing styles and skillsets. By doing that, I came to the conclusion that Mijares would outbox Vic to a decision. There is nothing wrong with that.

So-called Boxing fans making all these bull**** hype threads about Mijares, that's disrespectful.

    Two different things.

Nothing wrong with predicting a wide UD for Mijares. But I think it was wrong to predict Mijares would win every round, school and humiliate Vic, and then stop him "in brutal" fashion, after exposing him for being a limited and ineffective nobody, as quite a few people here have done. That smacks of nuthuggery, at least.

(I predicted Mijares 8-4, myself, btw).

Predicting an easy win is the same as coming out and calling an accomplished champion like Mijares, "Hype, bum, etc". It isn't the same.

Mijares looked befuddled tonight. Darchinyan was showing some hand speed I'd not seen from him at this point, and was landing his left hand at will. He looked like he wanted it more tonight, and that's what happened. I honestly thought the fight was gonna be over in the first round with that vicious uppercut.

Overall, great fight, Darchinyan proved he's a force to be reckoned with. Congrats, Vic.

Mijares has problems against power puncers, he tends to lose confidence once he gets hit and his gameplan blows up. And if he cant hurt Montiel, he will need to switch to his dancing shoes.

Decebal is right mate. If Mijares had schooled Vic, the bashing Vic would get by ESB posters would be X 10 times.

C'mon. All these nuthuggers have been hyping this guy like he was the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson. Well, now they have to eat their crow.

The guy lost just about every round and get starched, after being hyped to the hilt. It doesn't get any more "exposed" than that!:-(

But that has no relevance to me, because I wouldn't have been one of those guys disrespecting Vic. I would have said I knew it was coming, Vic isn't in the same league as Mijares. I wouldn't have called him a bum and saying "I hope I never see that peice of **** in a ring again". I paraphrased.

Mijares is good but obviously not as good as i thought he was. I overrated him, no question. Mijares was overrated. I don't think there is any disputing that.

I'm not saying he is not good, but he is not as good as i thought he was. And definately not as good as many other people thought he was.

I called Mijares by decision. I also had him as a top p4p fighter.
