PPV is the issue ,if these PPV's get boycotted than he promoters lose money forcing them to make better match ups ! This PPV model here in the states is a complete joke and it just feeds greed ! Don't buy into that hype ,there have been better cards for less.

Unfortunately the economic growth indicators used do not reflect on public spending power (the most obvious indicator of which is inflation) - in short profits may be up, and the richest getting richer, but Joe average has, if anything less than ever to spend on luxuries such as PPV.

Years of conditioning have taught us, as the general public, to respond in an almost Pavlovian manner to share price indicies and GDP rises. Almost all research on actual public spending power shows a steady decline in the US and UK along with an alarming increase in functional poverty.

Heard Mayweather will only get PPV upside if the PPV numbers for this fight do around 2.4 million or greater. Otherwise, he's mainly just getting the guaranteed.

Espinoza and Showtime better hope and pray this event does enough biz to cover their losses of the last fight or heads could be cut off. They are gambling big time on a short shelf product.Didn't make sense with this deal in the first place and the bosses at CBS will be taking a hard look at this deal after this event.

Total GBP expense for this is reported at 60-70 million.

    41.5 million - Floyd
    5 million - Alvarez
    2.5 million - press tour
    8 million - advertising
    1.5 million - Garcia
    800,000 - Matthysse

plus expense for other boxers, etc.

There's a good article on bleacherreport that breaks down how all the monetary things work with ppv cards and how they can afford to pay the money they do

even when he wasn't with showtime, there's no way gbp would risk millions (32 mil on floyd alone in the cotto fight) and not have full control.

It clearly says Golden Boy Promotions makes about $35 per PPV household sold + gates + some other misc revenue from sponsors, THEN pays Mayweather's salary from this. Essentially, GBP is the boss. All the dumbass *****s like to believe catchweather collects all the money and pays people. :rofl:rofl

Also, as far as casual fans, it doesn't matter if they knew who Canelo was a year ago. They know now. He's been on ESPN constantly for about 2 months. The mainstream press hype for this fight is much greater than it was for Cotto. Casual fans have strongly been sent the message that this is the biggest boxing match in years, and will probably be the biggest match for the foreseeable future. It's a very big event that everyone will be talking about and will be fun to participate in. That's what they're in it for.
