Well that's how it works now, but Schaefer before said that Mayweather kept all the money and paid everybody out himself.

I'm not sure how that'd work though considering a lot of the fighters are GBP fighters.

I hate talking numbers, because no one REALLY knows what's going on behind the doors when contracts are being doled out.:!:

Showtime pays Floyd, not GBP. They guarantee his purses.

The cable providers get half, AND from that half, Showtime takes its cut and Mayweather/GBP split after that.

I remember a story leaked about Pacquiao almost cancelling the Hatton bout a WEEK before it was to go on because he wanted 2% more of the PPV cut  so Hatton said alright then.

    It's a very ugly business.

20 million is excellent. Yes showtime would get half.

You basically summed it up, but as mentioned previously we'll never know the actual balance sheet of the whole thing.

GBP fighters get guaranteed purses and GBP gets the right to promote the event. It's not a bad deal for them at all. One of their fighters gets the opportunity of a lifetime with a 7 figure purse(of which they take a cut), they also get a check to promote the fight, AND get their up and coming stars a chance on a huge stage.

yes. GBP/Haymon/Showtime have been doing amazing work.

I couldn't give half a **** if Showtime loses money. What's the lesser evil here- The boxer being overpaid or a friggin network being underpaid?

From that proposed scenario 2M buys at $75 a pop=150,000,000

Time Warner Cable, DirectTV, Dish Network and other providers take half (75M) off top.

From there it goes to Showtime where they pay Mayweather's guarantee(41.5M) and Canelo's guarantee(5M) leaving 28M. They then take their cut(which might be half or probably more) 14M left to pay the undercard fighters, expenses, etc.

Mayweather is winning on the backend with the INT'L TV rights(to which Canelo is assuredly getting a cut because of the huge number of Mexicans which demand the fight), sponsorships, and of course the live gate and closed circuit broadcasts.

This is of course assuming 2M buys which is an enormous number.

I'd kinda be worried as any losses come directly out of Showtime's boxing budget, so we might not be able to see some fights that would normally be on Showtime Championship boxing and instead would have to be on PPV.

Although I love it that Floyd,Canelo,Danny, and Lucas are getting big paydays. Always great to see the guys taking the punishment get rewarded.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. The best fight is the undercard fight and it barely cost 2 million.

Boxing is a very top heavy sport as far as purses are concerned.

Why does it matter? At least SHO has balls to try and create big fights and put money behind it. SHO is putting a real effort in boxing. Why are fantards so worried other's people money now? Just enjoy the show.
