Its just an attempt to grab more money. Just let the winners fight and call it a day. This thing is dragging on too long and two fighters have already dropped out. There is no need to have the same four guys fighting time and time again. Green has no shot at moving on so there is no reason for them to look from him to fight that also has no shot at moving on. Its over let the winners fight and stop, its really turning in to a joke.

Allan Green is really a terrible boxer. I rate him somewhere between Cliff Couser and Alfonso Gomez in a p4p h2h sense. That he is spoken of in serious tones in the same breath as some of the sport's elite (not only by members of this forum but by high-profile types in the industry such as Lou DiBella and Nate Campbell) is an absolute joke. That's what's hurting boxing more than anything else - misplaced hype in fighters who couldn't convert new fans at gunpoint with a lifetime performance.

Green's a pice of ****, but is he worse than; Numerous alphabet organisations, corrupt judges and referees, fighters continuously ducking top competition, venue & purse disputes, interim and super champions, diamond belts and overpriced, crap televised cards?

If networks and promoters were more selective in who they passed off as legitimate (like, you know, actual legitimate fighters) it would go a long way toward alleviating the damage of most of those other problems you listed.

If people like Chocolatito Gonzalez and Tim Bradley (guys with instantly recognizable elite-level talent and pleasing styles) got even half as much ink and air as the likes of Allan Green, Chris Arreola, and Alfonso Gomez (guys who are missing one or both of the above attributes), the sport would be much better off.

I think its the other way around, i think those things being corrected would fix guys like allan green more then vice versa.

Anyways, i really hope that they find the most durable, but soft puching guy they can find, so that this thing goes to a decision.

For real for real, it will be a true shame if Green or his opponent get through. I just want to see AA-Froch-Ward-Dirrell..... its the perfect semi finals right there.

And also, while i havnt seen any numbers, ive heard the S.S's ratings havnt been all that, i really hope that 'boxing fans' (not us, cuz of course we are going to watch) but other more casual boxing fans wake up in the semi's and start supporting this tourny, im not sure if this will ever be done again with all the problems its been having unless it gets a major major ratings boost down the stretch and makes showtime some decent cash. not only that but this thing deserves support, and the fighters recognition. Not just from us the die hards, but also casual fans.

just wondering, but why do you put Alfonso Gomez in there with Green and Arreola? Gomez actually has quite a few quality wins and isn't/wasn't that I remember over-hyped like Green and Arreola

Well...his resume of wins is impressive on paper until you look at what versions of those greats he actually beat.

Gatti wasn't Gatti, and Castillo wasn't Castillo when they lost to The Gomez.

He wasn't ever terribly over-hyped, but has gotten a few too many big shots - that he didn't rightfully deserve - based on his TV exposure and "legend killing" (scavenging Gatti got him a crack at Cotto, and picking the bones of JLC has set him up for a shot at JCC Jr., who should knock him out rather easily).

The one performance I do commend him for is when he outboxed and outfought Jesus Soto Karass, on whom I was once fairly high as a potential "Margarito-plus" type, but who honestly hasn't lived up to expectations with any consistency.

while I agree with you on the whole Gatti/JLC part, Gomez still has a few good wins besides those - as you mentioned, his win over Karass, Carson Jones (not a great win but decent), Jesse Brinkley (whos getting a shot at Bute...), and Manfredo. I think he deserves his fight against Chavez Jr., because what has Chavez Jr. done to deserve a fight with Gomez in that sense, Duddy? not impressed

I respect your opinion that Jr. will knock him out easily, but I actually am anticipating a decision win for Gomez

    Bit silly this ................

Showtime have there solution staring them in the face :

Froch - Abraham winner vs Ward - Dirrell winner

That way people stay interested , and we have some sort of a clear winner , for what its worth , you cant blame a fighter for an injury , but weve lost Taylor and Kessler , is it really worth going on with Green and who ever else comes in , i dont think it is , this is about credibiltiy now and the super 6 has all but lost all of its credibility IMO .

I think this tournament is a testiment of the lack of durability of the modern fighter , i do not ever bang the " older fighters are so much better " drum , but back in the day this wouldnt of happened .

You are seriously under rating Alsfonso Gomez. He's no world beater, but in a strictly technical sense he is far better than Green.

I think we are likely to see Ward-Dirrell & Froch-Abraham rematches in the semis if the current format is kept. Seems a bit silly.
