Showtime Bantamweight Tournament: Darchinyan vs. Mares & Perez vs. Agbeko II RBR

Round 2

Agbeko lands a couple of jabs and wings a hook around. BIG right hand from Agbeko. Perez slaps the head of Agbeko with a few short punches but eats another long hook. Perez throws combos but Agbeko is blocking. Left hooks continue to crash into Perez's cheek, and the Ghanaian tries to put some right hands together with them. Agbeko lands a 1-2 as Perez advances. Perez walks forward with a few jabs but is getting countered with straight rights. Perez jabs and his left glove crashes into the right glove of Agbeko firing his lead right. They land simultaneous hooks a moment later

Round 3

Double hook to the body by Perez. Agbeko sticks a jab in his face and eludes, cleaving to the ropes and moving his head a good deal. Agbeko's right glove comes untaped and the referee pauses to get it fixed. Perez comes in with some hard jabs, but Agbeko ducks and scurries his way free. Agbeko gets into a rhythm of sliding his feet back and countering with the left jab and right hand. Perez is trying to land high jabs and body hooks but Agbeko is making himself scarce, springing up and down and moving constantly. Perez stats to land the hook, but is still getting lit up by counter punches by Agbeko to the head and body.

Round 4

Agbeko is ripping Perez with left hooks, straight right hands and uppercuts. Perez applies the same flavor of pressure, straight forward and trying to jab or hook his way through the front door. Agbeko continues to change levels and give different angles, putting punches together with both hands and making Perez miss. Agbeko lands a nice 1-2 before swooping down low and out of the pocket. Perez catches him with a well timed right hand. Perez is cut. Agbeko is dancing on the outside and landing jabs and lead rights to the body.

Round 5

HARD counter combo from Agbeko. Perez walks in behind his jab. Agbeko flurries up high at the gloves of Perez, and then loads up and misses a huge right that pulls him off balance. Perez is throwing jabs that seem a bit limp now, as Agbeko just tears his face up with counter punches. Big right hand lands for Agbeko. Perez hangs in there, and times a few of his right hands to land and stun Agbeko. Perez follows but is no longer mounting much offense. Agbeko is gliding in and slapping Perez up, then ducking and slipping away.

Round 6

Perez is walking Agbeko into the corner and throwing some heavy blows in combination. Agbeko bends down and gets his feet moving. Once at range again, Agbeko starts to rip Perez with hard counters while keeping himself a half step ahead and always squared up to throw his long arms. They begin to trade at mid range as Agbeko slows and both have their heads snapped back by hard punches. Agbeko eats a pair of big rights but keeps his own hands moving and is touching Perez with every other punch. BIG right by Perez. Agbeko is up against the ropes and trying to slip but getting pounded on.

Round 7

Perez lands a big right hand, but Agbeko gets back into his boxing rhythm from the outside. Agbeko whips with some long body punches and raps Perez on the head with short taps on the move. Big right hand from Agbeko. Perez is walking into Agbeko and trying to hold him in place with some body shots. A pair of nice rights to the chin by Agbeko before he ducks and ejects. Perez misses a pawing hook and then lands a big right hand. Agbeko gives no ground and lands his own right.

 

Round 8

Agbeko smacks Perez with rights as he displays excellent movement and agility. Agbeko gets a few jabs into the face of Perez, and starts hanging in the pocket a bit longer to land more punches at once. Perez rubs blood and sweat out of his eye with his glove in between absorbing punishment from Agbeko. Perez's legs don't look so good. Perez lands a big right hand but it's too little too late.

Round 9

Agbeko is digging underneath with right uppercuts to the body and flinging his low left hand up as a backhand jab. Perez tries to bull his way in behind short straight punches but is intercepted and parried by Agbeko's counters. Agbeko isn't using as much of the ring this round, but Perez still isn't landing much on him. Agbeko crouches and then shoots up with a 1-2 to Perez's face. Perez tries to walk Agbeko into the ropes but is punched off. Perez slices at the body of Agbeko until the bell.
