Round 1

Right jab against left jab. Both are feeling each other out. BIG left hand by Vic, right on the nose. He lands another just as Mares is throwing a right. Ooh, another lead left flush on the face. Mares holds and hits down low. Mares comes in with a 1-2 and lands bang on Vic's face. Body punches by Mares. Big southpaw 1-2 from Vic backs Mares up! Mares is bleeding from the forehead. Darchinyan lands another left up high. Vic paws with the right jab. Mares blocks another big left. The rest of the round is conducted cautiously.

Round 2

Mares chases with his jab. Darchinyan backs away with his right arm held out like a stick. Mares complains of a low blow. Mares misses an overhand right. Darchinyan misses a jab and falls off balance lurching in with a follow-up left uppercut behind the jab. Darchinyan scrapes the cut with a jab. Mares lands a 1-2 and Darchinyan comes right back with a hard left that drops Mares. Abner gets right back up. Huge left hand by Darchinyan thuds loudly on Mares' chest. Darchinyan keeps plugging away to the body with hard lefts, now down around the stomach area. They swing in a wild exchange and both miss. More lefts by Darchinyan. Mares gets him in a headlock and hits him while held. Mares gets in a right. They hit each other at the bell with a left (Vic) and right uppercut (Mares).
