    Vic tries to cross over while up on the ropes to trip Mares up, but is caught as Mares slaps him with long lefts and rights. Mares is warned for rabbit punches. Mares is landing nice right uppercuts. BIG left hand by Vic. Mares is back to body punching. Vic blocks a 1-2 and lands a nice right hook. Vic is boxing on the outside again, but Mares is catching up to him quickly. Vic falls short with a big left and winds up with Mares in a clinch. Mares nails Darchinyan with several hard head shots. Mares slams him with the 1-2, left hook and right uppercut.

    Round 9 definitely to Mares. If Mares just keeps applying intelligent pressure whilst avoiding any one-shots from Darchinyan, he will win this fight.

    Mares is walking into some left hand leads. Darchinyan is keeping his distance and throwing single punches at a time. Mares keeps firing the 1-2 but having it ducked and his arms left draped over Vic's back. When Mares throws body punches it's the opposite, with Vic pushing Mares' head down. Mares lands a nice left hook. Vic tries to answer with his right hook. Mares backs him up with a big right hand, and Darchinyan shoves him into (and almost through) the ropes).
