Donaire jabbing his ass off, and Marquez tries to slip a hook under Donaire's right arm but is unable to get through on the angle left to him while dodging the jab. Donaire is stepping to the side, and back every few steps, letting Marquez come to him and waiting for counter opportunities with the lead left. Marquez wades through the tall reeds in the Donaire jab swamp, and doesn't see the snapping turtle of an uppercut rising out of the murk to bite him on the chin. (Eat your heart out, Atlas! IB is the king of the over-extended boxing metaphor!) Marquez lands a left hand but is largely getting outpunched by the smoothly counterpunching Donaire. They bang a bit on the inside at the bell.

I tuned in late and thus far, I haven't seen Donaire miss once with the left upper. What a potent weapon.

 

Darchinyan getting KTFO was a special moment. Warm and fuzzies seeing that again.

 

He gave the first round away while getting the hang of being lefty, but he's been firmly in control since. :good

If Donaire fights southpaw against Vic in a rematch. Its going to be much more competitive than it should be, in fact i would maybe favor Vics chances.

 

Round 4

Donaire sticking and moving. Marquez absorbing and trying to walk Donaire down but not committing to cutting the ring off and getting inside. Donaire lands two massive uppercuts. Donaire continues to land well, with the right hook making a few appearances. Marquez defends to the best of his ability but can't touch Donaire with much.
