    I hear you.

You know what's strange... Truax gets an extra point in a closely contested bout and ends up losing by one point on two score cards... Hurd gets that extra point, in his case a knockdown, and ends up winning the bout by one point on two score cards? And yet both men were incessantly putting on the same kind of raw aggression and mauling...

Am I reading this all correctly?

Hurd barely had a mark on his face
Lara had a cut and one of his eyes was nearly swollen shut.

Lara did land some nice punches but not enough and when Hurd landed clean he was rocking Lara to his boots and wobbling him regularly

Thought I just read an article that said one of Hurd's eyes was almost swollen shut...

Nope, it was Lara. Hurd was still in good nick.

Lara barely made it out of the 12th and the ref did buy him extra time and help run the clock down

Interesting, would you say it's a good enough fight to give an immediate watch too? All I ever hear is complaining about Lara bouts, **** turns you off...

Lara's reign was the 2nd longest in the history of the light middleweight division, with the longest being Gianfranco Rosi's reign, which was 5 years 89-94.

:nusenuse: I didn't watch Truax vs. DeGale, shut it off after three rounds to watch Mayorga instead (and won't be rushing to remedy having missed the rest anytime soon...honestly if Mayorga hadn't fought I might cruised over to check out the UFC...)

I hear the UFC card ended up blowing pretty bad too! Seemingly only a so so night for the fight game, across all spectrums...

It was a real good fight, fairly give and take kind of bout.

A close one but I'd say calling it either way is being a little generous on Lara.
Although close, I still think Hurd was a clear winner

It was the right decision. I didn’t believe Lara dominated the first half of the fight like some people have it. Hurd was already finding success at banging the body from the third round on and I had it all tied up after six rounds. Yes, Lara was landing some very good flush lefts on Hurd’s head but some people fail to point out how good Hurd’s body work was, along with his short hooks that went around Lara’s guard. Lara appeared to have a good, tight defense but Hurd threw a lot. Of course some were blocked but a lot also got through. The body shots that were “always being blocked” as some Lara backers would say were landing on a constant basis. One of the best body work I have seen in recent times. That left hook couldn’t miss under Lara’s elbows. Very impressive performance by Hurd. Lara is a master boxer. He wouldn’t lose to someone just because the other guy was bigger. The people saying that need to give Lara more credit than that. All in all, a really fun fight that is very much worth watching.

Lara clearly won 6 and 2 or 3 others were close to even, so yeah, my gripe is legit, its as legit as everyone else's claims for years that Lara should be an undefeated fighter. The fact that the final scorecards were 114-113x2 Hurd and 114-113 Lara lend credence to my claim. IB is being too conciliatory to the Hurd backers because he boasted too much beforehand and wants to look humble in defeat and the Hurd backers are acting a little too cocky and patting themselves on the back far too much... he didn't dominate a goddamn thing, they're full of ****. Lara didn't dominate the match either, it was an evenly contested close as hell fight that could have gone either way similar to AJ-Parker, only with both men last night showing far more heart than the two big men came close to showing. So both camps like with Kovalev-Ward and Canelo-Golovkin can come away from this fight feeling vindicated, but for some reason Lara backers seem content to throw in the towel, well I'm willing to be beaten to death while hanging on the ropes to defend my POV. Sure an argument could be made that Hurd won, but kiss my ass on it being some watershed destruction. Yes there is an argument Lara won and by a few points, which is far more legit than the Canelo and Ward fanboy claims.

Last night was the first time I'd tuned into a Lara fight in three years, and it was worth it. I got what I expected, i.e. Lara forced to engage.

What reign? He was the longest running of a few paper champs, there's been no 'the man' at 154 these last few years.

I picked Hurd, but thought Lara clearly out punched him, in most rounds. Lara let himself be done in by a higher workrate. Hurd at least hit him with more scoring shots then Paul Williams did though.
