I guess the irony is lost on everyone that...

The two headliners on this card were mirror images of one another, the first one was through a slightly cloudy one though.

James DeGale stayed on the ropes for the majority of the fight, threw a few jabs and wild looping lefts, was terribly ineffective and inaccurate and then would shell up trying to avoid shots, while Truax was plugging away being fairly inaccurate and ineffective in his aggression, but enough was getting through. Yet DeGale wins via UD.

Yet Lara stayed on the ropes for the majority of his fight, throwing hard solid straight lefts, uppercuts, occasional right hooks and even landing in combination, was incredibly accurate, like 40% accurate and would shell up and avoid a ton of shots, or was catching them on his arms, while Hurd is plugging away being fairly inaccurate and slightly more effective in his aggression. And Hurd wins via SD.

A fairly similar scenario played out with both fights, the money guy with his back to the ropes won the first fight, and the money guy coming forward won the second fight, in spite of the guy on the ropes in the first fight doing a terrible job and the guy in the second fight doing an exemplary job.

    Purses
    Lara $1mill Hurd 500k

How is Hurd the money man?

    Hurd beat that ass,

Lara was supposed to win 12-0 or most likely stop Hurd yet he winded up getting out landed by a huge margin, dropped and cut and bruised.

A rematch and Lara gets stopped 110%

The money guy was Hurd dingbat.:deal:

Do you really think Al likes shelling out a million dollars to an old dull counter puncher that everyone hates to watch, from Cuba that doesn't speak English?

Or do you think he'd prefer a YOUNG big ass Margarito like monster who sucks in the casuals by the droves and drives ratings up, that also happens to be American and speaks English to win?

    Smart businessmen think ahead.

Lara is more well known, so he had to pay him a million, but guess what? Hurd is the man now!!!!!

Future earnings dictated who the REAL money guy in the fight was. Now stop playing stupid.

I view it sort of like out with the old (money) and in with the (money) new. I still had Hurd winning but there were some rounds too close to call. I want a REMATCH :rosstheboss

Interesting how things turned out after six years. Lara is a world champ and still a dangerous fighter, albeit in a weak division. While Hurd is more or less a has-been. Boxing sure is funny sometimes.

Maybe, but entertainment value aside, Lara has always been a legitimate and talented operator; conversely, Hurd was always a limited weight bully. I think it is to be expected the difference in class showed over time.

If Lara was to knock out Hurd now he'd receive such little credit for it. Mental.

Hurd had some talent; he wasn't getting past the trio of Harrison, Trout and Lara if he didn't. But his style was always going to catch up with him in terms of having a shortish shelf life. Meanwhile, the quality of Lara's opponent has tapered off fairly dramatically from the level Hurd was at back in 2018.
