is there a point to be a showtime subscriber at this point? HBO is KILLING showtime this year..right now, 0 fights scheduled other than May-Pac. Anybody else cancel? Seems to me Haymon played Espinoza for a fool haha
People were probably thinking that when they canceled their subscription and tgen came Corrales vs Castillo 1...this is boxing. You never know what will happen.
True enough but good lord EVERY Showtime name is f ighting on basic cable and the big name they brought in got his ass handed to him. ZERO fights upcoming.....im not trying to be an HBO fanboy but you'd have to think somebody is losing their job over this
If you ask people why they pay for SHO or HBO, it's not for boxing. I have HBO for Game of Thrones not boxing. I have SHO for Ray Donovan and Shameless (before that Dexter). SHO has had the best shows until Game of Thrones.
Nah, HBO always had better shows. The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, Rome, Real Time with Bill Maher, John Adams, Angels in America, Oz, etc. Showtime only ever had Dexter and Homeland.
The majority don't subscribe for one show. It's always what is being offered in general that attracts the majority. That said, Chavez vs Fonfara recently was on SHOWTIME, Kirkland vs Alvarez is coming soon and many more will eventually be announced. If Haymon was on HBO you would say he's playing HBO for a fool, your issue isn't SHOWTIME or HBO, it's Haymon.
Not really Haymon as he's giving me fights I want without a paid subscription , my only point was how awful Showtime boxing in 2015 is at this point, and other than ray Donovan there's not a real reason for me to subscribe, just wondering if anyone else felt the same
I don't know Showtime does seem to have lost a lot of its big names to PBC for the near future (which is fine by me as boxing on regular cable is kickazz). So for the near future Showtime is in a bad way, but they have boatloads of money and will be able to get a new crop of fighters (or at least my showstreak hopes so)
Haymon took Espinoza to the cleaners, ripping him and Showtime off for millions and have now swept him to the garbage bin. Espinoza has to go.
I've had Showtime for years but dropped it after the Wilder-Stiverne card. They had little on their schedule at the time and it was clear Haymon was taking fighters to other channels. Since that card Showtime has had a few ShoBox cards and 2 Championship cards. They've been doing about a card a month(that includes ShoBox) this year, not really worth it if you're main reason for having the channel is boxing. If they get serious about boxing again I'll gladly re-subscribe but I don't think they have a single card scheduled at this point. Hopefully they're just regrouping and not cutting back or getting out of boxing.
I've thought about it. No more fights... HBO has boxing and Game of Thrones for me. Showtime, right now, has nothing.
Espinoza's BOSS Les Moonves at CBS is credited with everything in getting this fight done-including the ticket debacle of yesterday.Espinoza just followed his marching orders as did Hershman at HBO. Espinoza treading water, believe me.
