How much did the showtime commentary influence your view of the fight. Everybody likes to say that the commentary doesn't influence them, but to me, bernstein and the other guys were clearly biased toward paulie. PM got abused in there ... I gave him rounds 1, posssibly two and the fourth round...and that was it. But to listen to bernstein and hopkins, it was as if it was a close fight and PM was actually doin real good and had a shot and wiinning. It's becuase PM also works as a commenatator for Showtime...but it distracted from what was going on in the riing because I'm seeing one thing (PM getting outclassed and battered and only remaining on his feet due to his ability to slip a punch and his chin) and hearing another (paulie is winning rounds, making it close, outpunching broner) If it was anybody in there besides broner and PM, the scores of 117-111 would be well received.

    They weren't pro-Malignaggi imo

If anything Hopkins having it 38-38 after 4 had me wondering what I was watching as Paulie was clearly ahead at that stage.

I thought they were over-hyping Broner through the middle of the fight and then towards the end were sort of trying to remind people that actually, the decision isn't in yet and some people might have Paulie in with a chance- but they all thought Broner was winning.

I do think they were biased, but not necesarily in favor of Paulie. I think they were just getting a lot of stuff wrong in general. For example, Hopkins had it even after 4 rounds and he was obviously incredibly biased towards Broner. Brian Kenny was throwing compliments Bernard's way all night and I didn't like how they were kissing up to Hopkins all night long. Whatever Hopkins said was treated as if it was intellectual gold, and frankly what Hopkins was either saying blatantly obvious half the time and flat out wrong the other half.

And it's not like I'm really hating on Hopkins, it's just that there's really no chemistry between those 4 guys. And Jim Gray just has a rude way about him. That fake smile is such BS and hardly ever gives a good interview start to finish. Him asking Paulie if the fight was fixed, was just rude. Paulie was bitching, but the guy also just fought 12 rounds, let him say what he wants, Jim Gray is just a dick. Lampley Kellerman and Jones are a better commentary team. Maybe it's just me, but the Showtime telecasts seem very unprofessional. Even the ring itself was falling apart.

I really was expecting them to be bias in favor of Paulie, but if anything I felt they were selling his performance short...

I thought they were bias towards Broner...Paulie put in a lot of body work that they didn't mention. Broner still won a close fight in my eyes.

Nah, it was a close fight and Paulie managed to shut Down Broner for long periods simply by being active. He had clearly watched the De Leon fight and used the same gameplan to his advantage. Broner barely won and a Draw would have been fair as well. Considering how big a favourite Broner was before this fight and how many people said he would stop Paulie, Hopkins, Bernstein etc. were right to question his abilities at this weight.

I hear you guys about PM being more active...but the thing is, this is professional boxing. A lotta slappy arm punches that have zero effect on the other guy count for less than sharp counters that snap the other guys head back, hurt him and back him up. That was what I was seeing. Paulie tapping broner on broners arms mostly. then broner would open up with a combo or a countershot to the head and body that would often drive PM back. But the commentary seemed clearly biased in favor of anything PM did. They blew up everything he did even when it was a slight jab that had no effect. Then the split decision was total bs. That's nothing but homecooking. It was a hometown crowd and a hometown showtime color commentary. And how about that ref? WTF was his problem?...seemed like he had some PERSONAL issues with broner. Maybe it's all the mexicans broner has blown out that made him bitter.

I thought the commentary was neutral and on point.

They count for less all right, but Broner only opened up once in a while. Boxing is still scored on a round by round basis and Broner simply let too many rounds sail by while being inactive. It could easily have been a draw or even a loss for Broner had he had a point deducted which he kinda deserved.

I thought they were fair tonight, they mention all during the fight about how aggressive Paulie was and how inactive Broner was during this fight.

None of this happened. The commentators were clowns that ignored everything paulie threw and praised any of broners single shots that seldom came anyway.

For the first time in a while I did not like the bias of the Showtime team.

Probably because PM was not commentating.
