    anyone else agree?

i find showtime's commentary much more entertaining and also more accurate.

lampley, steward and merchant are usually either boring as ****, or lampley talks absolute sh*t all the time

HBO's team may be full of a bunch of idiots, but they aren't boring

At this stage, if anyone chooses HBO over Showtime, they're out of their ****ing minds. Lampley is mentally unstable and overtly biased, Steward thinks he has the fight figured out within 5 seconds of the opening bell, and Kellerman is, well, Kellerman. And don't even get me to started on Bob "The Sandman" Papa.

Exactly, and it's gotten especially obvious since HBO has made it their mission to desperately latch on to and manufacture a superstar.

  5. It drives me insane watching Larry Merhant spend 5 minutes trying to ask a question, that would take any normal person less than 10 seconds.

Jim Lampley has got to be half blind. the guy has no idea what is going on in the ring.

It might just be the characters but I like the HBO team. Sometimes the **** they say comes out of left-field but they're usually accurate with their calls and are honest. The Showtime team states the obvious, but Merchant and Steward put things into good perspective, Larry with his quips and elongated pauses, and Steward with his inside knowledge. And of course Lampley, as idiotic as he may often sound, loves the sport and will give lots of credit to the fighters in the ring, calling it with a lot of excitement always.

I also think Kellerman has a good eye. He tries to be objective and doesn't have too many favorites; he'll praise Manny Pacquiao for his accomplishments but also recognize the match-making aspects of his career. And of course I love when Jones is around. Gives good insight with a charismatic flavor.

    This. :deal

I enjoy both teams, but HBO feels like home for me as a boxing fan.

They do need to scrap Merchant soon though, 'ol vodka breath needs two minutes to finish a 10 word sentence.

Showtime is a little too vanilla for me. I find Lampley engaging and fun... Merchant's plays the straight forward card well, and I dig on Kellermans style. They got great chemistry together, similar to the mnf crew I grew up listening too in the early 90s. Steward always adds great insight, and so does Lennox and Roy in the past. I've disagreed with Lederman's scorecard in the past, but only a couple of times. In my opinion, HBO boxing is much more entertaining and accompanies the fight better than showtime.

I actually think lamply is pretty good allthough he overreacts sometimes.
    Jones is excellent though.

Showtime buries HBO. HBO is too obviously biased. Showtime isn't. RJJ is great though.

I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I usually end up finishing the HBO broadcasts with the sound turned off. Lampley is absolutely incapable of objectivity. I don't know if it's for the contract fighter or not, but you can tell when there's a guy in the ring he's rooting for, because he can't see anything but that guy winning, not matter what is actually happening. Plus he's a wife-beating, dorky loser.
I can handled Marchant's shortcomings most of the time, but Lampley grinds on my nerves til I just have to turn the sound off. I wish to God he'd retire.
