Chuck Giampa needs a bit of work though , love the different styles they have they all blend well and extremely informative.

Bernstein smile smacks of sheer arrogance, he really knows he's the best around.

I must say Boxnation have utilized there co commentator's well with Smith doing well, Enzo good as well and Jones becoming my favorite. He's spot on although the Burns fight he riled a few on here with his praising throughout.

No doubt about it all IMO. Bernstein the best broadcaster in the world full stop, Gus Johnson is a great lead commentator and Farhood is a really good analyst too. Gray is forthright which is needed in a interviewer, occasionally a bit too much with the fighters straight after a fight I find, and Tarver is without doubt the best ex boxer commentating. Puts Jones Jr to shame IMO.

Yep. Really good team. Johnson is a good blow by blow guy. Al is the boss and Antonio "The malteser looking one trick pony" Tarver (sorry i'm not a fan of him as a fighter) has really taken well to colour commentating. It was a calling and he heeded the call. Very articulate and makes good observations. I still think Roy Jones is the more informative and has a better eye than him (you know it had to come back to Roy Jones). But Roy can't articulate as well with his drawl.

The weak link has to be Jim Gray. Always comes across as VERY obnoxious.

I actually like Johnson I know a lot of MMA fans give him a lot of **** for his work with Strikeforce but I don't think he is that bad although he calls a Boxing match a lot better than MMA match. Tarver is a pretty damn good color commentator he is very informative and comes across really well.

Yeah, Johnson is quality for the blow by blow action. Lampley used to be the best but he's really gone of the boil know, that guy's an embarrassment.

    Bernstein is great

Al Bernstein>>>>>> Everyone else. I like Tarver too, he's articulate and makes good observations, Johnson's enthusiastic which makes him good.

Kellerman and Jones are decent for HBO, Steward's pretty good too and it always goes the way he expects so he must be a genius. Lampley's no good now and whenever they wheel Merchant out it's embarrassing.

Have to agree, Bernstein is the best by a distance, Tarver is refreshing, Gus Johnson can be a bit annoying at times, but he does a good job.

Mand did you hear the awful commentary on boxnation for the Burns fight? Totallh bollocks, complete hugging on Burns and what he can do etc. Commentary is about calling the action but instead we had 36mins worth of bull****.

Anyway, Showtimes panel is best in the game. Not a doubt about it.

  10. I like all the Showtime team, though Gray is the weak link.

I'm not sure what's happened to Lampley, but he and the rest of the HBO crew have become so ''company orientated'' that they seem unable to actually commentate on what's going on.

Pacquiao vs Marquez was the classic example, even though both are HBO fighters their bias toward Pac was shocking, and in Floyd/Ortiz they were desperately trying to big up Victor as a man who could potentially trouble Mayweather :nut

HBO are a bit like the North Korean government, trying to force their collective view on the audience, a guy could be getting his arse kicked and still be ahead and fighting the right fight.... Williams vs Martinez II anyone? - when it's obvious to those of us with eyes what's actually happening.

The Boxnation co-commentator idea is a good one, Barrie Jones was quite good but I did afford myself a smile when he started talking about fighters going into journeyman mode.... take a look in the mirror kid

Give me Smigga, Enzo and Jones over bumbling Johnny and bumbling Glenn any day.

Yeah said in my second post, but Jones prior to that fight was extremely impressive compared to his fellow Boxnation/Sky foes. I like what he brought to table very articulate and thoughtful responses.

I switched the Burns fight off around 9th, got bored...

it was crazy in both fights at the weekend, how the commentators would say something will happen and within 10 seconds it happened

in the juanma fight they said how something big was about to happen and then juanma got rocked and salido dropped, it happened in the mikey garcia fight too think it was tarver, they are a class team together and its like they are just happy to be there nice and relaxed (the cheesy grins could go though), HBO are the opposite too serious and its like its all been practised and rehearsed beforehand

:deal Your right, it's a great blend you got Johnson who really gets stuck in and loves it. Al is thoughtful and looks at all aspects then you got Tarver who's been there seen it and done it and has a good boxing brain.

It's a great team, Gray is a arsehole at times but tbh there's been times where he's made for great entertainment and doesn't bottle it like others do.

In the middle, with his commentating brothers. I know he only gets the odd gig on Showtime these days when Gus is away, but he's quality.
