Probably the latter bro.. Diaz did very well but started too late.. It was the hand speed of Russell that made him too defensive.

Bet he wishes his corner didn't tell him he was winning rounds where they acted like it was a sparring session when he watches this fight again...

Really don't get what goes through these trainers minds sometimes....:scared1

Punches on gloves don't count, and that's all Russell landed for the first 6 rounds, learn how to score.

    :deal:

(people can technically also post here as well since this is the "Showtime" thread; split-venue broadcasts make things so awkward...but please keep the undercard spoiler moratorium in place for the next couple of hours in case people had a way of catching up on the action from either card w/o knowing the results )

Diaz looked really good when he let his hands go and GRJ was definitely feeling the weight of his shots more than the bigger, stronger Diaz was feeling his. But GRJ made the adjustment and used his speed and volume to keep him from throwing and he did so much better when he stopped holding his feet for too long trading with Diaz.

Jo jo is a big guy at 126 i didnt realize the size difference until i saw them both in the ring. I would still make grj the favorite over them.

Russell landed a lot more than punches on the gloves as opposed to Diaz who threw virtually nothing, 117-111 is still a round more the Diaz probably deserved, but more than fair it was the right outcome. And I don't like GRJ and was rooting for JoJo.

YES, after 6, and I gave the majority of those rounds to GRJ. But the first 6 were nip and tuck as were the last 3.

It looked like watching Linares & Lomachenko Diaz was so much bigger than Russell Jr.

He threw the shots that actually landed throughout the first 6. Go back and watch it. You can land 879 shots to the gloves, but if none connect, they DO NOT COUNT.
