Charlo is pinning Adams on the ropes for brief stretches but unable to hit any paydirt with his persistent headhunting. When he drops the left hooks above the waistband, Charlo is making solid contact. Adams bowing forward, dipping & leaning to his side, grabbing & releasing Charlo around the waist - doing a good job of nullifying Charlo's offense, being negative, but not generation many effective counters. A few pokes at the body, that's all.

Round 3

Charlo is roping out the jab and stepping to his left, Adams watching and waiting, jittery on the outside, falling in and tying up low or knifing a jab into the lower jab before giving Charlo a chest to chest bump-draft. Charlo is wrestling clear of clinches and shelling up when Adams jumps in with the overhand right, blocked. Adams squatting and landing some nice stretch-out left jabs on the stomach, between Charlo's elbows. Lots of wrestling in the middle of the ring. Clubbing right behind the neck by Charlo, landing more with the underside of his forearm than his fist. Uppercut by Charlo, rocking Adams back from the pocket.

Adams doing alright but appears to have not come in with a concrete game plan as to how to deal with Charlo's athleticism, size, power and speed.

Charlo is feinting with the left hook while sashaying inward, chasing Adams. Good counter jabs by Adams, staying in and toeing the line in ring center. Really strong up-jabs by Adams, recoiling into a defensive posture with his elbows bent at his sides immediately after scoring. Very close action on the inside as they fence with the jabs, actually the busier man for the time being is Adams. Charlo whipping a few hooks on the hip of Adams when they separate. Adams jumps in and they butt heads, hard. Charlo is missing with the spearing right hand up top, Adams sloping his left shoulder to melt under it and countering with jabs on the body. Adams using lots of twitch-feints, juking & jiving side to side with a high guard. Adams switches southpaw just before the bell.
