And if the fight sucked, he would say it :risas3:. He wasn't an ass licking company man like the ****s of today.
HBO was good at matchmaking and had first class production value.

In UFC the best fight the best. Not in 5 years or when either guy feels like it but they fight NEXT or get stripped/dropped in rankings.

How many MAJOR fights have been ruined by overmarinating...where 1 or both guys were past prime? The marinating literally only benefits the boxers (and promoters) and by all means I want them to do well but lets be realistic...earning millions for 3 months work need not be romanticized. How many fights ruined by flat out ducking? Or by step-aside deals?

These problems are large part of why boxing has lost mainstream relevance...we have 5+ champions in every weight class...how can there be 5+ "bests"? Cause champion means the best so there cant be more than ONE champion.

But boxing is kind of unable to be fixed at this point. There are 4 belt organizations w a 5th belt trying to become a thing. Dipsh!t Sauliman trying to make yet another weight class because of his greed. Champions, champions in recess, interim champions, and franchise champions...a JOKE.

I guess youre right though even Dana White couldn't fix this mess. Too many belt orgs, promotion companies, network deals, etc

I agree entirely with everything you’ve said.

    But how is it fixable?

Dana is the only guy in charge.

    He is the only matchmaker.

He has all of the fighters under contracts.

He can plan an event in 3 months, and put a card together of whatever he wants.

    He can choose the fights.

He controls everybody and the entire company.

That can’t be done in boxing though. Like you’ve said, there’s 4 main orgs, all with their own rankings. Then there’s lots of rival promoters and TV networks etc.

    So it’s impossible.

I’ve been a fan of 30 years. But I don’t know what a realistic solution would be.

Wouldn’t less networks make it easier for the bigger fights to happen?
