I think Mares won by a point, but like I said, he really put it on Perez's ass in the last few rounds. Perez looked like he was ready to die. The bodyshots were killing him. What's crazy though is that Perez is now signed to Espinoza Boxing. Quite the weird familial thing they've got going on with Mares and Perez--they're so close to one another.

    Arum has crossed the line.

keeping Montiel and Donaire out of this has pissed me off big time.
To hell with Arum's in-fighting garbage.

Guys like Arum and Floyd are killing this sport.

I remember getting in a lot of arguments the night of the fight - most people had it 7-5 for Mares, with most mistakenly giving the 9th round to Mares, and therefore most people mistakenly take it for a case of "close but clear".

If people kept the recording or can find it on Youtube, go re-watch and re-score the 9th round. Perez wins two minutes and thirty seconds before Mares comes on very strong in the last half minute. Really, therefore, it's Yonnhy's round unless you subscribe to the notion of someone stealing a round in the waning moments without a knockdown. You change (or rather, correct) that round on the scorecard of 90% of the people who claim it was a robbery - the people who almost unanimously scored it 7-5 - and it becomes a draw...as I had it...and as two judges correctly had it.

You're right, though, that Abner swept the last three - that can not be disputed.

I'm sure there will be no love lost between the two should they meet in the mini-tourney, whether under the same banner or not.
