Garcia is an ATG in the making, he's been the best fighter in every division he's fought in so far. 4 times number 1 in 4 different divisions.

    That is incredible.

Not just that, but he's fought the high risk low reward type guys like Lipinets and Zlaticanin.

He reminds me so much of Crawford, love the way they're making fights against the top guys in the division regardless of star power.

Failing to make Linares fight was only acceptable if the Lipinets fight got made and that's what happened and he passed with flying colours.

All due respect, no one here except for big fans of Lipinets thought of this fight as "High Risk" everyone expected Mikey to roll over and stop Sergey. Not only seeing the final bell, but winning rounds, & giving Garcia a much tougher fight then Broner did was not something anyone here including yourself expected to happen. Only in hindsight was this fight labled high risk by folks on this board, anyone else who thought Sergey would look good was laughed at.

It wasn't that long ago people said Crawford was ducking Lipinets. He's one of those eastern europe unbeaten fighters, I like seeing those guys get a shot at a big fight, otherwise they end up going unbeaten for ten years racking up loads of low level knockouts and being lauded as an ATG.

And as you've seen the reward for the fight isn't that great, despite him being the next best LWW in the world after Garcia himself.

116-111 Garcia was my card. I though lipinets fought extremely well and really tested mikeys toughness last night. I hope Mikey doesn't test the waters at 147, he should go back down to 135 and wait for a big fight against either Loma, Linares or even Easter.

Lipinets will be a title holder again, there's no doubt in my mind.

I didn't score it, was sleepy by that point in the evening (and having to sit through watching that horrific ass Barthelemy always leaves a sour taste and puts me off the sport a little) but Lipinets was surprisingly competitive and Mikey clearly won in a very good performance.

I'm not sure where there's room to nitpick either one. They fought a good, clean, world-class game of violent chess, one guy just more in his tool belt.

It was one guy (Farmboxer) I believe saying Crawford was ducking Lipinets, and everyone knows that guy is half troll, the other half biased. I agree with the rest of your post.

I've never liked Mikey in the least, his style just isn't my cup of tea. I like Lipinets, his style is my cup of tea, that being said, I genuinely thought Lipinets would be relatively easy work for Mikey, and the fact that at times he was being outthought in there by a guy who is a relative novice who by all rights he should have dominated, should have alarm bells going off for a lot of you. Sergey proved his meddle, did a great job and proved he can hang at the top of the sport, which I'm thrilled about, but at the same time, I can't stop having that nagging feeling of, was it really that Sergey did that good? Or is it that Mikey is overrated? I've always felt while Mikey's skilled, his size advantage at FW and power were kind of his trump cards, and that without those advantages, he'd be another Broner at LWW and WW. Which may not have been far of, other than he's a little bit better than Broner.

I love Sergey's style. If he keeps developing he'll be a hell of a fighter in 10 fights or so. Great head movement, powerful puncher. I'm looking forward to seeing him fight over the next few years.

I had Mikey winning 8-4. But it's definitely a loss that ELEVATED Lip's stock by a big margin.

I'd be surprised if Lip didn't pick up another belt at 140 pretty soon.

I'd pick him to beat Relikh, and Relikh now holds a belt.

But he does have a beautiful 1 - 2. Even if it is as basic as it gets.
I think Paulie said something about Mikey missing the 1 and not knowing what to do with the 2.
Aka slip the jab and Mikey will likely miss the right.

I will always encourage 1v2 matchups in boxing. This was one such case. Those who succeed in these matchups prove themselves to be elite.

I also had 115-112 Garcia, but I just racked it up to my bias as a big fan of Sergey's.
