Just watched the somewhat schmaltzy Mauro Ranallo narrated nostalgia vignette. This is the death rattle of the premium cable boxing era. Alright, let's do this...

 

It felt very wrong to have Charlo and Crawford and Danny G and Canelo and Tank Davis highlights put on the same level as the likes of Mike Tyson, JCC, Diego Corrales, Pernell Whitaker and Tommy Hearns, though. For a nearly forty year history there was a hell of a lot of recency bias there. This last decade did not deserve that much proportionate representation.

**** off, Mo. Don't reduce these guys to where they each factor in as footnotes in Mayweather's career (and his Showtime contract specifically - you don't have to plug anymore, there's no point)

 

10-9 RG, little in that but he painted Berto's face with a smattering of southpaw jabs.

 

20-18 RG, in control with lateral movement at distance throwing straight combos both leading and countering, the ring general throughout although Berto is getting in some bursts of quick flashy hooking combination offense darting in.

 

Ugh, somehow I've been hoodwinked into tolerating Virgil Hunter's nauseating presence on my television screen one more time.
