And thus i don't get the point of your statement.
It's like you can truly never know anything and it makes all of my viewpoints worthless.

A decade from now my views will have changed, i get that. But won't yours do the same? Or have you reached that mythical point of "knowing it all"?

The world changes and sometimes even the past changes. We just go with the flow.

But right now we are better off than we were ever before in history.

no. the truth about everything exists, but that truth is always being debated by different people and groups for their own personal gain. this has never changed because man will always profit from those they can manipulate with higher knowledge. even when you finally come to the realization of truth, there will be 2 more people taking your place in the dark and now arguing against you.
there are many sayings that have been passed down across generations that dont appear to mean much because you can think of many circumstances where those sayings dont fit. but its experience and knowledge that makes the important truths behind those sayings obvious. when you understand those truths, and how and where they apply, its like a major piece of a puzzle that all of a sudden helps you to see the entirety of the image. thats just an example of the many "aha" moments that you will experience in a long life.
of course, i am speaking about intelligent, healthy individuals. there are a lot of people in this world that will be born, live a long life, and die a very ignorant person.

its way better today than pre 80s pre internet and mobile phones
that genertion and previous ones were just as swayed by social upbringing and print media .

i would loves to have grown up with todays technology albeit i liked being independent at 16 which does not happen today.

    @bandeedo

    It works both ways.....

A guy who fought in the first World War.
A guy who was born in the 90's.

For every 'Wiser' and 'More knowledgable' older man - There's a guy stuck in his ways, unable to see past his own bias and prejudices.

For every 'Naive' and 'Lack of life experienced' youngster- There's a guy looking at the current world with open eyes, forming his own opinions, without the bias of his past experiences.

It's also ironic that I myself am only 24.....Considerably younger than yourself, as your following point suggests:

"i still did not have enough world experience to be firm in my convictions and secure that i was correct in my assessments. and it took a lot of life experience for me to sort all of it out. of course youre going to have that misguided confidence in your own level of understanding that comes with youth, its life that ends up correcting your misconceptions."

But i'm well aware of the fact that I, unlike yourself, will never be arrogant enough to consider my convictions to be 'Correct' purely because of my age.

It appears that your 'Naivety of youth', has turned into 'Arrogance of age'.

I remember trying to explain 'Hook-up' apps to my Grandfather the other day when I was back from Uni for the weekend........

"So you're arranging to have sex, with someone who is wanting the same thing?.....What a terrific idea."

    Then my Grandmother chimes in....

"Great for the women too.....All this 'in my day we went to a pub/bar/club to meet men/women' wasn't exactly safe for women was it? Hanging around in those places on our own."

    @Badbot

Just find it funny that he believes there is just some 'Magic age' where you suddenly know everything.

    Life is a book.....

There's a beginning, a middle and an end.

You never stop learning until you've turned every page.

And lets face it, you can actually truly know something. And most of all, "One mans truth is another mans fallacy."

ok, there is so much patting on the back between you and casual over your own ignorance, that i dont have time to address it all. so lets start with the 1 point youre trying to make, the point that makes all my argument incorrect. between the 2 of you, you come close to equaling my life experience, so you should be able to come up with 1 coherent point.

    Wtf?
You being older automatically makes you wiser? How conceded can you be?

Oh wise one, teach me something you have come to realize through you life. Something simple. I am being serious btw.
So far what i have understood is that every generation is different and act different. But this has been the case throughout history.
"The young one these days dont *insert topic*"... Sentiments like those have been echoing through generations.
Yes, with age comes a different appreciation of things and you have more time to absorb in what life has to offer.
But me being young doesn't make me ignorant on every subject.

One of the biggest things i have learned is that life is not as black and white. There are a lot of grey areas. (there's a whole rainbow as far as i am concerned). Whenever i come across an opinion or anything new, i never take it for face value. I try to learn about is as much as i can, and do so from every angle i can find.

One can exceed at something, be above everyone rest on said subject, and still learn more about it every day.

The fact that there are more successful people in the world, younger than you, simply destroys your argument straight away in all honesty.

lets start with the first, and move from here.
you have been a legal adult for 6 years, so we will use these numbers for my example. youve been watching from an adults reasonable perspective, how teens act, how young adults feel, how middle age people talk and act, etc... for 6 years now. you know all there is to know about young men in the second half of this second decade. i have seen the same things you saw, from an adults perspective also, but, ive also seen what all these same groups have been repeating or changing all the way back to the early 80's. i have a much larger store of information.
not only have i seen more, but ive see it from many more different perspectives and situations. ive traveled the world, ive been to war, ive been to prison, ive lived different lives.
with an equal capacity to learn, how is it possible that you have a better understanding of the subjects weve been debating? unless you believe you have a higher capacity for learning, then thats a whole different debate.
