Good move for Showtime. What happened to the good old days when a champion would clean out his division first before taking on a fighter in a different division or catch weight? I would much rather see Dawson and Ward go through the list in their respective divisions before fighting each other.
Ever since Ken Hershman Left Showtime been on some ho ****.. Expect to HBO to clean and any of the new networks to steal their fighters and have better cards...
You don't know what a "HUGE" fight is. Mayweather vs Cotto was a huge fight, Pacquiao vs Marquez was a huge fight. Dawson and Ward can't draw nowhere near that amount.
Okay? And your point is? Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander was for the lineal JWW Championship. The fight was boring, had no attention to it, and was fought in an empty arena in the middle of nowhere. Is that what you want to see with Ward and Dawson? This the exact reason why P4P lists are ****ing stupid.
I don't give a **** if it generates huge PPV dollars or is a PPV at all. It's a huge fight for boxing. Mayweather-Cotto meant little to most hardcore boxing fans. This is a more important fight.
I would rather see Ward fight Bute 1st (IF Bute gets past Froch), but if not, this would be a damned good and important fight for the future of American boxing.
No, it's not. If it doesn't make $$ what's the point? Why should Showtime shell out a huge license fee of $5 mill to two fighters that most people don't know outside of a a few thousand hardcore boxing fans. Nobody will attend the fight. THAT'S what's hurting boxing. Boxers making more money than they merit, empty arenas being shown on t.v.
atsch wtf. I want to see the best fight the best. Maybe we should go make Del Rod-Wolak a ppv then. and Bradley vs Alexander was a fight that had to be made.
Gary Shaw tried to stage Lateef Kayode vs Antonio Tarver at some Indian Casino and Showtime told him to find a real boxing venue. Thus the reason why we are seeing a quadruple header in Carson at the Home Depot Center. Showtime is really on the ball.
You, want to the see best fight the best. Okay? When the best draws 800 fans to his fight it's not really worth it, is it? When the "best" is as boring as molasses, is it worth it? I rather watch Delvin Rodriguez and Pawel Wolak fight 100 times than ever watch Andre Ward vs Chad Dawson. Rodriguez vs Wolak is what boxing is all about. Two blue-collar, workman like fighters putting on a show for the fans.
