I was very interested in this fight. But, since I long cut off Showtime in favour of HBO...I can't cancel over it in protest or anything. They just rejected two Ring-ranked top ten p4p fighters in the sport from meeting, with one undefeated and for ****'s sake one of the channel's biggest boxing stars. What the hell is going on there?

Because Showtime are "coward busters" - they won't let Ward duck Bute.

Bute, (once he get's his foot in order) has two back to back fights with Froch. Is Ward supposed to wait? :patsch

...He's 100% about the rematch close, though.

It's a one way thing, that's the reason Bute agreed to fight in Froch's backyard.

I understand that, but last time I remembered, Bute has a 50-50 chance of winning. Ward shouldn't run his career on an assumption Bute will be victorious.

They guaranteed 6M$ for Bute to see him fight Ward.

    That's why they didn't want Bute-Froch either.

Yeah, but even if he loses (Bute being the favorite) and can't fight a good opponent meanwhile he just has to wait a little longer for the rematch.

It's not the end of the world. Bute had to wait more than 2 years for the S6 to end (and he's older).

I personally don't care about Bute. My argument is Ward shouldn't have to wait and should be allowed to fight in the meantime if he chooses too.

You do realize that its the half-assed promoters that lose money when a fight tanks not the network? Showtime makes their money from subscribers.

And you keep assuming that this fight will be another Bradley vs Alexander.... You know HBO didn't lose money on that fight right? The promoters did because they thought it was a goin idea to take Alexander(who sells out in St. Louis) and Bradley who isn't as popular but is still a big name but is based and fights out of CA and put them in Michigan thinking they'll sell 90k tickets.

Have you seen Corrales vs Castillo? Showtime shouldve passed on that fight too if you go by your logic.

Here is my plan. Bute Ward plus Dawson-Pascal, then we have a mega fight, fulling the Olympic stadium in Montreal seeing who is the best in the world at 168-175 from the two Quebecers. I will be there!

This is literally the equivalent of turning down Chavez -taylor in 1989.

    Showtime is ****ing stupid.
