From what I am told by good sources, both camps are trying to get out of the fight and Showtime is threatening legal action because if the fight does not come off, the tournament goes down the drain. -Dan Rafael Said on his chat on Friday.
Not very honourable for Ward and Dirrel to renege on a signed deal. They will find out they are not above the law and will be sued to kingdom come.Sho will bury them.
Ward just trying to take the belt and run while avoiding solid guys like dirrel and froch/abraham he will just fight in the safety of oakland against lesser guys
What THE **** is this sport coming to? More broadcasters need to start playing hardball with these guys.
if they dont fight , **** them strip ward and let arthur an froch fight for both titles and suspend ward and dirrel from all boxing for 5 years and sue the ****s untill there in the welfare office lets see if ward sill thinks he son of god in that queue
there is no excuse other than injury for this fight not to appen that is acceptable. They have known about this fight for well over a year. Its part of a tournement. If they **** it up then screw them over. Why would either of them not want this fight to happen?
2010 is the year of the boxing pussys! So many can't seem to man up and fight! You can knock the UFC, but you get the fights you wanna see.
I don't see how they can legally sneak out of it. Ward, Dirrell, Goosen, Shaw will all be targeted with significant legal damages. Their lawyers must think they found a loop hole. Showtime put in alot of promotion for this event. Not to mention Kessler wouldn't have agreed to come to Oakland to defend his title without some kind of second chance at it. Very dissapointing by Ward/Dirrell. Probably has as much to do with Goosen/Shaw though.
I can see Dirrel figuring to take the belts and split while the gettins good but I think SOG Ward is a straight up kinda guy who would never stoop to such a level.
I think they feel they both made their names and now are looking for a way out so they can try to take it to HBO for bigger money, whether it's fighting Bute or fighting each other. HBO wouldn't feel any remorse if things worked out this way. The venue disagreement is bull****. Those things always get worked out. It could have caused a slight delay in making the fight, but this is now obviously about their desires to completely leave the tourney. Who knows how the contract language reads? Now that two of the original Six have left maybe there is a loophole. Terrible turn of events and Ward and Dirrell need to step the **** up and tell their guys to make the fight now.
Everything points to that fight going on and it should happen regardless of the outcome. The guys need to get paid, have been training, it might be for the WBC belt, so there's no point in them not fighting. Big credit to them for just focusing on fights.
