I had friends who were there (Benn/Logan), the feeling was the bravest man that night was the ref, Benn should have been stopped long before he landed that bomb. As for Benn/McClellan I was there, but it was not my finest hour. After putting on serious money (for me) on G-Man to do the business early. I left in a foul mood to drown my sorrows and bemoan the fact McClellan had quit like a dog. I would not know until I got home the next morning about what had happened...
The McClellan fight definitely, especially after the first couple of rounds. There was an eerie atmosphere early, as most of us figured we were here to watch the end of Benn's world class career. The Logan fight was a bit different. It was considered a mismatch, Benn had beaten Williams on a Saturday night ITV show, but it was kind of a flat show; this was the fight that took him to the next level, the darling of the press and seemingly the future of the domestic sport.
Un-believable that Benn smoked 20 a day and could throw 50 full-power shots a round for 10 rounds like that, while chasing or ducking low and weaving wide; never still..!
He managed to go 10 rounds big whoop the amount of old school fighters that went 15. Does not mean they were all drugged up to the eye*****.
