Here is what I believe is the list of 10 potential opponents has approved for Bute's next three fights. I've made this list base on the information i've found on the internet (articles, interviews, etc...) (In no particular order): 01- Jermain Taylor 02- Allan Green 03- Mikkel Kessler 04- Andre Dirrell 05- Sakio Bika 06- Carl Froch 07- Arthur Abraham 08- Andre Ward 09- Robert Stieglitz 10- Dimitri Sartison
I'm guessing Green, Taylor, Bika, Stieglitz or Sartison are the most probable choices for the fight in March. Then we could see Bute against either the injured Kessler or Dirrell. Or against one of the semi-final losers.
The problem is there's only 5 out of the bunch that I'd like to see Bute fight, but 1 is practically out for good, another is on an extended vacation; there's at least 2 more that will be tied up until 2012 as they'll be in the S6 finals. That leaves only 1 worthy name, being the loser of a semi-final.
Jermain Taylor has no more "credibility value" after his last loss and lay off time. Green most likely will move up to 175lbs. Steiglitz won't come out of his hiding spot anymore now than before unless he's drugged to do otherwise & Bika would be a bad choice if he's dismantled by Ward in November. That only leaves Sartison as a possibility...if he mans up but again that's a boring fight...:verysad
I hope it's not Jermaine Taylor... hasn't he been brutally KO'd by enough white guys? I really wouldn't like to see Taylor KTFO'd again... and against Bute, this is the only result i can see
It depends on the Bika-Ward fight. If Bika looks well against Ward, it could be a nice way to bring Bute closer to the tournament. I wouldn't want to see that rematch personnally. Bute has improved a lot more than Bika since their first fight. More, Bute could get injured by a headbutt. Dirrell can't fight in March. Too soon. Same for Kessler. I hope that Stieglitz finally accepts to fight Bute. With the Showtime deal, Interbox has more money to offer. It's not that he would be a good opponent but at least he brings the fourth belt on the table. Imagine a Ward-Bute fight for the ultimate unification: all four belts, plus the Ring belt. That would be a historical moment. That's why I hope Stieglitz accepts to fight Bute. I don't think Stieglitz likes my plan though...
Did you not undertsand that the comment was just my own view about the fighters, possible matchups & situation ?
Stieglitz stopped by Andrade who Bute knocked out in 4 !..That might be a hard sell, then again he is a titleist and the way Showtime could look at it is that if Bute faced the super six winnr with the IBF and WBO titles and the super six winner will have the WBC and WBA titles, well that would be the ultimate unification fight and would draw huge interest.
I don't see him fighting anyone on this list until the Super Six is over. I think his next opponent is going to have to be a 160 fighter moving up, a 175 fighter moving down, or Bute may have to go up to 175 (just for a fight or two, not permanently obviously) and fight someone there. Here's an idea, though I know it wouldn't happen, how about putting against that British kid I keep hearing so much about, Cleverly. Could Cleverly make 168?
