Just wrapped:

Carlos Alberto Beras vs. Brainer Androski Vásquez Soli, 8 rounds @ lightweight

Both countrymen believed they had it clearly in the bag and were hyping up the crowd before the announcer read out the result... un empate (a draw) - leaving either side nonplussed.

 

Kaipo Gallegos vs. Marlyn Sjly Cabrera Santana, 6 rounds @ super featherweight

 

This is yet another young Dominican vs. old Dominican crossroads match-up, except the age disparity is even wider than in the previous bout (Beras at 24 just seven years the junior of Vásquez, 31). Kaipo, nineteen years younger at just 17yo, has a lot of buzz in the YT comments, guess he's popular down in DR despite being only 1-0-1 so far. High expectations...and he's in with a fairly decent domestic name for a third pro bout, although the book on Cabrera is "insufficient power to quite tag him as glass cannon". Mixed at high level but always on the losing end.

 

Bing bap boom, series of right hooks from Kaipo does the job after a minute of feeling out. KO1!

 

Alfree Ramírez vs. Wanel Alexander Lara Figuereo, 10 rounds @ bantamweight

 

They're really keeping this shindig moving right along, strictly business. Ring walks on the heels of the walks of shame/victory to hit the showers. As it ought to be.

 

Really weird juxtaposition of styles and physiques, here.

Lara (in the shiny blue satin with black trim) is the shorter fighter, sort of "skinny-fat", and has an incredibly awkward unorthodox stance, throwing big looping haymaker rights from outside with his feet not squared. Ramírez is a beanpole southpaw playing whack-a-mole on the moving target with a hatchet right jab. At one point Lara faceplants sideways onto the canvas because he tried flinging a punch across his own body at Ramírez's head while their feet were crossed.

 

You could call it a tuneup, although that might be a little disrespectfully dismissive of his opponent. Pino is 14-1 and is the Venezuelan national flyweight champ FWIW, but his record is pretty padded as you'd expect from his neck of the woods. Coming off a loss in November of last year in a bid for the vacant IBF flyweight Latino title, dropped and made to quit on his stool by Tobías Jeremías Reyes of Argentina.

Maybe slightly better than you'd figure for a stay-busy.

 

For all that he does almost everything wrong "by the boxing textbook" (his footwork bothers me the most and is truly just a haphazard mess), Lara is rocking Ramírez often enough with these nonsense shots.

 

This match (which is ugly and not really what I'm here for, so not scrutinizing closely enough to score) is for the WBA bantam FedeCentro title. Past notable holders include Cuauhtémoc "Famosito" Gómez, Anselmo Moreno, and Rafael Márquez ...but nobody worth writing home about for a very long time now.
