Armstrong had a great chin, even at welterweight.

As good as Duran is, and I´m a huge fan of his, I own and quite often wear a Duran-T-Shirt, he is no Henry Armstrong. :bart

Leonard was a very good boxer often over looked with his flashness.
Look what he did to Duran in their second fight. He learned from his mistake in the first fight.
Ross was in his last fight when Armstrong beat him.

Leonard could box and he could box very well, it just was not his style.
But that´s exactly my point. He lost the first one. That´s what would happen here too.
Nobody thought Ross would retire before the fight. Ross was not old, he was not past it. He just got a bad, bad beating and called it a day. IMO this win is the biggest in the sport, the only other one coming close is Greb´s over Walker.

Whether Ray boxes or brawls is neither here nor there. What will dictate the pace of this bout is Armstrong's tenacity. I see Leonard boxing and winning the early rounds, but Henry's relentless determination and all-around roughness will take a toll and wear Ray down late. Armstrong by UD.

At his best, Leonard wins by wide UD.

….and I agree with you Ray Leonard wins a UD and fairly wide . Sugar Ray Leonard fought Roberto tooth and nail in Montreal and I think it was his best effort in the ring even though he lost.

People forget that Leonard and Dundee were geared up to bully Duran in Montreal. Leonard has no intentions to take a backstep.

Duran's speed of hand, feet, ferocity and skills made Leonard fight to survive - not the simple case of Leonard didn't fight his fight.

Leonard, pre-Montreal wouldn't fight on the backfoot with Armstrong for my money. As the bigger man, he will try to outgun him and show speed as well as physical superiority. Whilst, I would trust Ray to find a way to beat Hammering Hank - it wouldn't surprise me if Armstrong's relentlessness and inside game got to an overconfident pre-Montreal Leonard down the stretch.

No one managed to keep a prime Armstrong at bay.

    Is that you Frankenfrank?

I like Ray to take 2 out of 3 in the series, dropping the first one in narrow fashion then winning by a wide margin the next two times after adjusting to the pace and style to create distance for himself and run Henry into his combos.
