What did that performance do for your opinion of Evans? He impressed you by not getting knocked out?? He gave a pretty lackluster performance, at least after the first 2 rounds. Didnt take any chances.
Shogun actually looked competitive until he gassed(early). Rashad was controlled the entire fight. DOMINATED
He didn't run, but he really didn't try to win either. It's like he never gave himself a chance to win outside of trying to land counter bombs, he did land a nice right hand.. He didn't really press the issue for the takedown, and just let Jones control him by simply letting him control his rear arm in stand up clinches. It would have said a lot more to me as a fan if he just went for it like he said he was going to. It's like he was more worried about how he looked and not making a mistake, with Jones being very careful as well. He's back in my doghouse. If he really would have gone for it, it would have said a lot about what he has in him.
Why is anyone surprised? Evans has always been a negative fighter when put in versus a serious test. His goal was never to win. Just to survive. Either way he's grossly overrated. There's nothing 'sugar' about his style. Sour would be a better moniker.
That was a good performance by Evans, not too exciting, but he did OK. Look at who Bones has beaten and how he has beaten them. I think he tried to win and actually landed some big shots. Bones looked so much bigger than him in there Evans had to back peddle and look for the big counter, that was his only chance. Bone will be HW by this time next year I think. He is massive.
Nah. He makes 205 easily. Despite being tall he has a very lithe frame that doesn't carry much weight. You can generally judge a guys thickness by his legs/bone structure. Jones has twigs for wheels. Id guess he walks around at no more than 215 if that.
yeah, 205 is no problem for him, and won't be, for several years. I can see him at 205 til he is closing in on 30 (if he wants). What I am curious about, is what is next for Evans? Machida - Evans 2...winner remains a contender, loser becomes a gatekeeper?
His big ass hands and feet suggest otherwise to me. He is only early 20's. I reckon he keeps his weight down between fights rather than just going to his 'natural' weight. Now entering his mid 20's. I thickened out a hell of a lot during that period of my life. I think he's tall enough and looks to be strong enough to hang with most HW's as it is.
