I.l guess no body knows. If US-fighters no more is the main draw, maybe HBO should sell the ppv to the hole world. Lots of fans outside the US who would pay for some real fights! Huge potential :bbb
Every other week someone is saying boxing is dying on it's feet. Be it on internet forums or somebody actually involved in the business. What's the big deal really? Hopkins should just offer Joe a fight. If he wants the rematch so bad and is convinced he can win, then put his money where his mouth is. It's not as if he dosen't have the financial backing now is it?
I don't think boxing is dying. If anything, in Britain it's got better. More people are watching boxing in the stadiums, and you see everlast and lonsdale gear everywhere. Also the Eastern Europeans totally own the heavyweight division now. And there are multiple nations with different world champions. In America though, I think it's another story. Just at the time when Boxing IMO is becoming a true international sport, rather than being just American. Hopefuly Americans won't disown the sport when it comes to the point where they have no world class boxers left. Like when Mayweather and Hopkins finally retires.
Calzaghe is an idiot at times and seems quite bitter..... but at least Calzaghe does get a few thousand to come over and see him and around 50,000 see him in Wales.... which I know small and full of arseholes.... But B-Hop can't even fill a small arena..... His fights (while I enjoy them) can be perceived to be dull and uneventful.....He has to be a bad guy to even get a few added sales.... Calzaghe is more popular in America then BHop...... Bhops fights hardly ever go on PPV unless the other guy has a big following But I think its good BHop has told Calzaghe to shut up
agree w bhop big time. i personally think calzaghe is afraid of bhop and doesnt think he can beat him again if he fights like he did against pavlik. and if you think calzaghe is more popular in the states, you're crazy. most people (casual) fans never even heard of him whereas b-hop is pretty well known.
Why would Calzaghe be afraid of Hopkins? Hopkins talked a big fight and then hugged JC all night and started all that cheating crap.
Regarding being able to attract spectators... Shattering the prevous record for the biggest crowd to an inn-door boxing event throughout history: Kessler-Calzaghe.
LOL. He didnt start that with Hopkins. First time I heard about it was after the Kessler fight, but he may have said it even before then.
Because he knows he didn't really win the fight, and he would get beat more convincingly in a rematch, that's why.
I agree! Joe did beat his ass! The fight was not close & should have been a unanimous dec for Calzaghe!:happy
Of what? :rofl looking like oscar did after a much smaller man kicked his ass all over the ring... :tired
