no there just needs to be some legit 225lb bangers instead of blown up cws.

edit to note that because there isnt at present, these super sized wanna be boxers are getting too much credit when they arent even that good. the klits have skill. outside of that...what fury? price? wach? these guys are terrible.

Stupid thread...the idea if the HW division is find the best boxer in the world...
If you split it up no 1 will care about the smaller weight class just like no 1 cares about CW....

Its like saying tall players have ruined basketball

Outside of K2 and LL, I don't rate any of the nephilim as special fighters.

The HW's problem is that the contenders are for the most part are just garbage.

    Valuev/Helenius/Fury = Butterbean on a different axis.

If there was a SHW division, the heavyweight guys could still fight for the SHW crown in pursuit of the glory.

The difference from the status quo is the smaller heavyweights would get a title and some hype that they otherwise wouldn't get if the only way to be a champ is to beat a K2-level SHW.

It would be a good move for re-establishing the heavyweight division in the USA because more titles means a better chance for a charismatic champion emerging.

Boxing is a sport with a declining participant base and has been for many years. You won't find a single american heavyweight trained from childhood who fight into adulthood. It is quiet rare. Only a small % of the population is even of that size. the average man is 5'9 and has nowhere near 200 lb of muscle.

Historically there was big heavyweights but the 15 rounds kept them from just becoming 260 pounds. They actually had to have endurance, with 12 rounds a big guy can almost fight a whole fight and not get tired to the point where the small guy has the advantage. Too many fights I can think of that ended late with the small guy losing and knocking out the bigger man in 13th, 14th 15th.

The answer is better boxing training. These guy will ultimately be pressured to fight the shw anyway and those will be the biggest fights. Most of the guys with the exception of lennox and klitscko fighting over 220 are just fat. And I seen the tallest boxer 6'9 get floored in 5, and I seen the 6'8 brit get laid out in 2 cold. I am not convinced it is needed. Klitschko brothers, well vitali has enough skill to not get laid out. and Wlad fights just caustious enough in his last 10 fights to not get laid out. I' see wlad beat by a fat corey sanders :verysad or ross puritty rope a dope him:verysad or lamount peterson knock him out. I am not convinced he is so invicable it warrants its own division.

Lets be honest, the fighters that were Heavyweights back in the day are now Cruiserweights...and the Cruiserweight division over the last 24 months has been red-****ing-hot!

I'd very possibly argue the OPPOSITE is true and that the participation base is growing internationally but shrinking in the US, hence why the US fans are complaining that they no longer rule the roost.

Of course British fans (yes even us Brits) would also typically prefer an American to be champion than some Europe due to our cultural links with the States

Doesn't make any sense. Because the SHW's would be the HW's in the new division if it materialized.

How about renaming the current cruiserweight division, the junior cruiserweight division and moving up the weight limit for the cruiserweight division?

Junior cruiserweight down to 190 and the cruiserweight division up to 215 maybe?

It really makes sense..... a junior cruiserweight division for the light heavyweights to step into once they can't make lightheavyweight and a 215 cruiserweight division that would instantly fill up with skilled heavyweights.

only an idiot would want more weight divisions. That is one of the big problems in Boxing right now should have NEVER strayed from the 8 original weight classes.
