as much as I agree with this, just do the 140 and above figures.

You can't do a timeline on Floyd, fighting once every six months in the optimum amount for a PPV star, with Floyd fighting what once a year? a timeline would be bias.

Fine, then don't accept a fixed purse. Count up all the revenue from their past fights, and determine a percentage based off of that. Maybe that scenario yields Pac less than $40M, maybe it yields him more, maybe it yields him just about $40M.

Very poor analysis. The only way to do this is from the Delahoya fight-on. That's where their superstardom came from.

If status, and not drawing power should determine purses, then how come Pacquiao and Mayweather made significantly less than De La Hoya when they fought him?

It does work both ways. It can equally argued if Mayweather fought as often as Pacquaio the margin would be double, since Mayweather is not maximizing his earning Potential.:blood

Floyd beat the last ppv cash cow and is now the new ppv cash cow. Therefore he deserves the lion share of the purse. Simple as that!!

    Unfortunately yes.

If Floyd liked chocolate ice cream and Manny strawberry these ****ers would argue which flavour is best.

why is any of this still discussed? it's totally obvious at this point that floyd is the top earner in the sport!

    :good:good

I thought that was the point he was gonna make!

Mayweather with 15 ppvs would've blown PAC out the water if mayweather fights twice in one of the last two years the numbers would be separated by at least 1mil

That's not how it works though.

You really think Mayweather wouldn't fight twice as often if he thought he'd make twice as much money? Of course he would. If we could sell a million PPV's every month, he'd fight 12 times a year.

Mayweather compared his fights to the SuperBowl. If the SuperBowl happened 5 times a year, would they get 5 times the audience? No. The World Cup is every four years, but if it was an annual competition, would billions watch it? No.

In the TV market, the more common something is, the less value it demands. If Mayweather was as active as Pacquiao, he wouldn't average what he does average.

Show the averages after their DLH fights. Using the biggest draw from the last decade and a half certainly skewes the numbers. Post-DLH numbers are THEIR numbers, not piggybacking the cash cow.
