S.I. is not the most reliable sports mag. Like The RING.it lost any credibility it had when DLH took it over. Ward is most definately NOT my personal choice

He cleaned out the 168 pound division fighting all the top ranked guys back to back to back...
Was ducked by bute then moved up to 175 and shattered the myth of Kovalev.

    What's not to like?

That didn't happen in the last decade so it's irrelevent when it comes to FOTD.

Only things that come to mind :
-He is criticized by a lot of fans for getting a gift decision in Kovalev 1, and for the stoppage in Kovalev 2 not being clean (low blows)
-He was retired for the last quarter of the decade.

To be the Fighter of the Decade it's important that you are a Fighter throughout the entire decade.

Aside from that not much to dislike.

Ok then, what fighter would you list ahead of him? that cleaned out all the top fighters within 2 weight classes, and did it for 100% of the decade?

And spare me the kovalev.tears. the first fight was close, yes....but if you give Fury credit for getting off the floor and finishing strong against Wilder idk why you don't give Ward the same credit.

The rematch was a shameful effort by Kovalev, I lost all respect for him in that fight, looking for ref help all night and then wilting like a dying flower along the ropes

Great point, never thought of it that way, in that case its Naoya Inoue or Deontay Wilder/Tyson Fury

Not a questionable win in a decade (Fury-Wilder) both on the list because of their Draw

S.I. was obviously looking at the Greatest to fight in the decade, that is why they had
    Ward-Mayweather-Pacman to choose from

Would not be my choice think he didn't have enough highs and his decade pretty much comes down to 2 moments the super 6 and Kovalev between that it's too much filler for me. Canelo would be my pick personally but what do I know.

I personally didn't have a problem with Ward winning the first fight, I agree it was close. But Ward was knocked down early on in the match and had to mount a comeback. The rounds that Ward won were closer than the rounds Kovalev won but on a round by round basis Ward arguably did enough to get the win. And in the rematch I pointed out several times that the only actual clear no-doubt-about-it low blow that I saw was the very last punch which was when Kovalev was hunched over. Ward had several belt-line shots in the lead up to the stoppage but those were not clear fouls in my view. The Kovalev fans crying over the result claiming foul play I thought was a bit much but if you were to nitpick you could argue that Ward didn't stop him clean. (not that I would argue that, just that you can make that argument)

And cleaning out 2 divisions like Ward did isn't the be all end all for FOTD. There's more to it than that.

What makes you choose Inoue, Wilder or Fury over Canelo?

I don't recall any of the SMW's in the Super 6 being with Top Rank.

Seriously when were Allan Green and Sakio Bika considered top ranked super middleweights anyway. I think Green only entered the tournament because Taylor pulled out. Also remember he fought two super middleweight fighters at 175 directly before Kovalev.

Andre Ward's greatest wins are his robbery of Sergey Kovalev and then his ridiculous "win" with KO to the nuts over Sergey Kovalev.
